Fumito Ueda and his team were responsible for creating one of the most original videogames of all time, the great ICO. Excitingly the same team developed the action adventure game Shadow of Colossus (SOTC). The game was released in February 2006 in Europe, exclusively for the PlayStation 2. --------Storyline-------- I will start by saying that this is not a sequel to ICO. Similarities exist though, such as the game being set in a similar (if not the same) world, and the fictional language from ICO returns. Without a back-story, prima facie SOTC has a rather basic plot. After travelling via horseback to a forbidden land an unknown warrior is on a ... Read the complete review

When this game was released I had such high expectations for it, its been a long time since I have got excited about a new and unique game. I was getting bored with the countless updates and sequels available and this was billed as a truely unique title. So soon after its release I packed myself off to GAME to spend my (hard earned) birthday money......... I had previously heard a lot of good things about this game. How it involved a new style of game play and was literally "thinking out side the box" in-terms of its approach. I had also been told it was visually stunning and had such a moving a story line it would tug at anybody's heart strings. ... Read the complete review

One of the moving and most visually impressive offerings that the PS2 ever had to offer is Shadow of the Colossus, a spiritual sequel to the cult classic ICO. This is superbly crafted, with astounding art direction and an epic sense of scale that still hasn't been rivalled, even on the next generation platforms. The game has a very vague story, but pits you as Wander, whose love Mono is rendered unconscious by a curse. Thus, he confronts Dormin, a deity-like spirit, asking him for help. Dormin announces that he will help him if he will destroy 16 colossi for him - huge, monstrous beasts that each have very distinct appearances and weakness. Wander complies, ... Shadow of the Colossus takes you to a distant place in which creatures the size of mountains roam free. They hold the key to a power capable of bringing the dead back to life. I want to clear something up first before I start: this game is a PS2 EPIC. It is a reason to keep your PS2 to see what it can really do before you possibly get rid. Fans of say, Zelda, will love this game. Made by the creators of Ico which some may remember from a while back, Shadow of the Colossus follows the same sort of graphic style, sense of story and compelling gameplay. STORY: I'll start with the story first which at first appears rather simple. The main ... Read the complete review
