I must say I’ve loved the Silent Hill series ever since the PSOne original burst onto the scene in 1999 and successfully scared the hell out of me. The developers at Konami may have ‘borrowed’ rather a lot of their ideas from fellow survival-horror top-dog Resident Evil, but would make good use of them, scaring on a whole new level with the depiction of freakish monsters, terrifically atmospheric use of darkness and a frequently-disturbing narrative. One spine-tingling sequel later and we have 2003’s Silent Hill 3 (SH3); set around 17 years after the original, you assume control of Heather, daughter to the original hero, Harry Mason. She is joined by the ‘is ... Read the complete review

Considering the prequel to this game was labelled as a fear evoking psychological experience that would reduce grown men to a cowering wreck it is a tough task for Konami to create a game even parallel to the mighty Silent Hill 2. Yet again gamers are welcomed back to a world of horror where everything is not quite what it seems to be. If one leaves a normal brightly lit room one minute and enters back another minute and it is covered in blood, dark, rusty, and a child lies dead on the floor what is the explanation for this? The laws of time suggest it is impossible for this to happen, a child being butchered to death and blood smeared across the walls is just about ... Read the complete review

After the superb second Silent Hill game, which was a powerful and strange odyssey into one man's existence, Silent Hill 3 had a lot to live up to. Whilst it's not as good as the second game, it's still another superb entry into the series that brings us full circle back to the mystery surrounding the first game, and delivers some cracking twists to that effect. You play Heather, a young girl who has become stuck in the nightmarish schizoid town Silent Hill. You must try to escape this Hell before she is killed by the numerous grotesque monsters wandering around the town, but in this stead Heather also uncovers a lot more about herself than she thought, and ... Silent Hill 3 is the third installment in this highly successful survival horror franchise and the first direct sequel to the original PSone game. Heather is a young girl with a mysterious past that she has largely forgotten, living out her teenage life in a small American town. When a private detective tracks her down on the behalf of some very nasty people, it sets into motion a chain of events that will have very tragic results for her and her dad who will be recognisable to fans of the first game. No sooner has Heather met the mysterious woman who hired the P.I to find her, then she finds herself caught up in something known as "The Otherworld" which has ... Read the complete review

Considering my entire childhood was spent playing video games I think this is actually my first review on one. My first ever video games console was a brick of a Game Boy. You know the old grey one that wasn’t up to the technology of having colour yet. Wow I had so much fun playing on that. Then throughout the years technology became more advanced and the last console I had was my PS2 which I adored for about 3 years. I don’t play on it so much anymore but I will always have the memories of my mom screaming at me to stop playing on it. As you probably are aware I was a bit of an odd child so of course I liked to play on the games that came with warnings such ... Read the complete review
