Advantages: Frightening, well-written, and downright good.

Disadvantages: Somewhat hard to find now that PS2 games are going out of print

Silent Hill 2 is a beautiful, cinematic experience of a game. It is ridiculously frightening, features moderately well-done action, and compelling characters that would be just as believable in a more "legitimate" work of fiction, IE a film or a novel.

The survival horror style game is mostly about avoiding enemies and conserving ammunition and medical supplies. This is usually a heart-pounding experience, but occasional backtracking or getting stuck on a complex puzzle requires the player to spend time killing the monsters instead of simply avoiding them. Thankfully, in most cases, they do not respawn, and once an area is cleared, it remains so even if you leave.

The game was one of the first on the ps2, and its graphics are still some of the best. Konami went all-out with this game following the success of its predecessor, and it shows. The writing, voice acting, and story are all top-notch. I cannot reccomend this game enough.
