A few weeks ago I dug out my old PS2 after buying some cheap games at the car boot sale, Singstar Popworld being one of them and was so impressed I felt I had to share!

The presenters of the T4 programme 'Popworld' do the introduction. not very well I might add! Fortunately this can all be skipped over which is great, I hate games where you need to sit through 5 minutes of dialogue before starting to play.

The version of the popular Singstar series focuses on more 'poppy' songs rather than trying have something to suit all tastes, which is what earlier versions of the game tried to do. Songs include; Beyonce - Crazy in Love, Kylie Mingue - In Your Eyes and Girls Aloud - Love Machine. For people into older pop songs there is Manfred Mann - Do Wah Diddy Diddy and Tom Jones - It's Not Unusual. A great mix of songs!

The objective of the game is to sing along, karaoke style to the warblings of the 'biggest names in pop!' Different game modes allow you to challenge your friends, practise rapping skills and play team games. You can also sing as a solo artist, as a duo or in a group. I prefer to sing as a group that way somebody hides my out of tune screeching!

The game is very easy to navigate and simple to follow. The objective of the game is to sing along, using the special microphone to the songs. Points are awarded for hitting the right note and matching the length of the notes. It is possible to cheat by humming along, but this is not in the spirit of the game! We also found that it is impossible to hit some of the notes! I couldn't match a lot of the male singers notes and my husband had difficulty with the female singers.

What I also liked about the game is that the original artists and videos were used for the songs. It made the game a bit more realistic and we almost felt we were 'popstars' too!

In ideal game for the whole family to play. We sometimes play after having a few shandies, it adds a whole new slant to the game!
