MODES OF PLAY
It follows the same format as all the other Singstar games which you should be familar with by now if you've played the game before. For those who haven't don't worry, it's not hard to find your way around the game as the game modes are fairly self explanatary. for example, duet mode is where two players sing together for a combined score and solo is where one person sings alone. Battle mode is where two player sing together like in a duet but they are scored seperatley and hence it is a battle because the aim is to get a higher score than your opponent.

HOW YOUR SCORED
Singstar Rock Ballads uses the same scoring system as the previous Singstar games. As usual, you're not actually measured on how good a singer you are. Instead your measured on how well you can match the singers tone and pitch, how well you can hit and hold a high note etc. This means that anybody can enjoy Singstar, not just budding rockstars and professional singers!

You'll see a performance bar on screen as your points are totalled up. This is a good way to track your score. The highest score you can be awarded is 10,000 and even in easy mode, this is no mean feat!

ADVANTAGES
I feel this is one of the strongest tracklists of all the Singstar games with a good mix of old and new hits. Avril Lavigne, Sugababes and The Calling provide the more modern hits which younger players will enjoy singing. Whilst Queen, Meatloaf and Mr Mister will appeal to older players so really the game should please everyone! And hits like "I'd do anything for love" and "Time after Time" are so well known that they should have a universal appeal for both younger and older players.

The song choice is not only a good mix but it presents a challenge for the player. 'Waiting for a star to fall', 'Black Velvet' and 'I'd Do Anything For Love' are particulary challenging and all need to be sung in different pitches. I like this because as a player I like to be challenged and it's even more of a motivation to keep practicing until I reach "Singstar" level if a song is difficult to sing.

Singstar is one of my favourite games ever and I find that it's a favourite of just about everyone, from my shy brother to my dad and my uni friends. The game has such an appeal that you don't have to love of singing or kareoke to enjoy it, I mean I've never used a kareoke machine in my life and I never would but I adore this game.

DISADVANTAGES
Hardly any. However, I have said in a past review that the game doesn't actually tell you how many points you need to recieve a "Singstar" rating, you have to work this out yourself so until you're famaliar with scoring system, it's hard to tell how well you are doing when you are rewarded points.

WHERE TO BUY
As usual you should use Kelkoo or other price comparision websites before buying. The standard price for the game (without microphones) is about £14 which is pretty reasonable but I'm sure it can be found for a cheaper price if your willing to look!

Summary: One of my favourite Singstar games! Buy it, you wont be disapointed
