SingStar was in effect the start of the musical instrument based games, with Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Lips following in its path which will continue forever more as long as people with no music ability still like to kid themselves by playing to a digital crowd. Lets face it, its an advanced version of the air guitar! but still a hell of a lot of fun can be had with these type of games. SingStar: Rocks is one of the many singstar games available, from Pop to 'Legends' there's plenty out there. This one has classic rock in the form of The Rolling Stones, Queen, Thin Lizzy & The Scorpions amongst others. These are lovingly placed with some more modern indie ... Read the complete review

On the face of it a karaoke based game for the play station does not bode well but actually this has turned out to be not all bad and in fact quite a giggle specially when supported by a little bit of alcohol. I had always ignored the previous versions as the music tended to be mostly cheesy pop tunes however encouraged by the rock version and the inclusion of some great bands like Nirvana and Keane I decided to take the plunge. Basically the game measures your singing ability whilst you warble away at your favourite tune and in all there are about 30 video songs on the game so there is a decent amount of variety to keep you ... Singstar Rocks is a great fun game for partys or if you just fancy a singsong to yourself. Great for practicing as it tells you when you're in key or not. Basically Singstar is just a Karaoke machine, it tells you the words as you sing along but the good part is that it grades you on how good you are at each note, and also on your timing. I haven't played all the Singstar games yet but they all seem to follow the same style. It comes with two USB microphones which fit into the front of the PS2, they aren't the best mics in the world but they are certain sufficient for this type of game and given the paries I've had they're pretty durable ... Singstar is a karaoke game for the PS2. Using special microphones you sing along to the songs and you are given a score marking you on how well you have sang. This game is seriously addictive! When I first got it, I would while away hours and hours trying to beat my scores. I am by no means a singer, but this game is great fun. Singstar rocks is an excellent addition to the Singstar range, as it has a good selection of modern indie songs and rock classics. Some of the highlights are Song 2 by Blur, Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones, and Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. Singstar is ideal for keeping the children amused (and then you can steal ... This was the first game for my Playstation and I got it as a gift. At first I was a bit confused because I could not see myself playing this game with other people and on the other side playing it for myself would not be fun. But one evening a little bit of "fire watter" changed my courage. Me and a bounch of friends started singing, and you would not believe it, we all sucked but it was the greatest fun ever. We just kept on singing and singing. This game has some of the greatest rock songs of the past and presence so it really is fun and most of the tracks are fammiliar to all, the ones that are not are just more fun to sing because you just sound awful.
