A let down from singstar (Singstar Singalong with Disney (PS2))

Advantages: Some good songs

Disadvantages: Backing lyrics are awful and very hard to keep up with

I love the singstar games, it's great to get down to a bit of karaoke in your living room. I got this from Argos the other day for £2.50(ish) and I have to say I'm really glad I didn't pay more.

Although looking at the track list on the back you'd think it would be a good selection of songs, when it comes to actually singing them it's not that good at all and there's only a few that I would even consider going back and singing again (beauty and the beast, the one from aladdin).

The problem is that whilst everyone knows the songs, the actual lyrics are quite complicated. Take 'I wanna be like you' from the Jungle book, the lead singer has all of the lyrics whereas the backing singer spends 3 minutes making monkey noises. It's the same with 'Circle of life', great lead vocals, really really hard backing vocals.

I know this is probably aimed at the kids and given practice they'd do ok but I'm not sure they'd bother with it too much. I'd probably say that this is good for single player as you'd get to sing the lead vocals and not have to bother with the dodgy backing lyrics...

2 stars overall, most disappointing.

Summary: One to buy only if it's really really cheap
