Advantages: Some good tracks

I'm not really a games console person but when I was introduced to singstar on the playstation 2 I was hooked. I bought myself a second hand playstation, microphones and a couple of singstar dvd's. I'm a huge Disney fan so it only seemed normal to buy the Singstar Singalong with Disney dvd which was released in 2008.

I bought it from Amazon for around about £10. You can now purchase it for £8.61 which is a great price. Anyway it arrived a few days later and I was very excited and looking forward to it.

So basically this dvd gives you a chance to singalong to some of your favourite disney songs and have a karaoke night in your front room with family and friends and who doesn't like to sing along to disney songs. On the dvd there is 20 original tracks and music videos.

It can be played from 1 to 8 players in party mode, sing solo mode, battle mode, freestyle and mode. Each performance is monitored and you score points for hitting the right notes and the long notes. If you dont want to be scored then you can choose the freestyle mode and sing till your hearts content without and pressure. At the end of the song it tallies up how many points you get then tells you what you are i.e amateur, hit artist, superstar, singstar. And i'm sure everybody is the same as me and tries in vain everytime to get the top marks and be named 'singstar'. On the couple of occasions I have acheived this I've danced a merry jig round my front room.

Now alot of these songs are great and are some of my favourites, I think that this dvd had a lot of potential but I think they didnt do it justice. Some of the songs on here are hard to sing and for me not as well known as some of the ones they could have picked. I do have fun singing along to some of the songs but they only picked songs from 14 of the disney movies and by 2006 there was 46 movies to pick from. I guess I'd like to have seen a couple of different Little Mermaid songs on there and at least another from Beauty and the Beast which I think are excellent films with great soundtracks. And maybe even one from Snow White in place of Sleeping Beauty as those songs are hard for an adult to sing never mind for a child (in my opinion).

This dvd is for 3+ and was greatly enjoyed by my 7 year old niece so it did please someone, it just didnt totally live up to expectations with me unfortunately.

Summary: Not bad
