SOCOM II is the perfect first person shooter game for the Playstation 2 which combines the element of strategy, health, reflex and hand/eye movement.

OFFLINE
Socom offers 12 different single player missions: each map is based in different countries split equally between Albania, Algeria, Brazil and Russia. The game can be played at different diffculty levels which are on the game as different ranks. You can play as either a Ensign (Easist), Lieutenant, Commander, Captain and Admirl been the hardest. The first three ranks are unlocked but you must complete the entire game on Commander level to unlock levels Captain and Admiral. Alot more items are available to be unlocked on completing games e.g. new carictures and weapons.

In the missions offline the player is required to complete primary objectives to beable to go onto the next part of the level. Secondary Objective ares optional but the more you complete the higher mission rating you will get. A letter rating will be given depending on your percentages in Accuracy, Stealth, Teamwork and objective completion.

In the missions you have team mates (3 of them) in which you can place commands to them. i.e Command them to clear an area or plant a bomb etc.

Online Multiplayer
Socom allows you the option to play the game online against other real life players. This requires ethernet internet conection to your playstation 2 (If you require help in setting this up I would be happy to help, just send me a PM over dooyoo).
This mode sets up two teams of eight in each game were Seals and Terrorists play against each other. The game is played in rounds of a set time usually 6 minutes. The winning team is the team which wins 6 of the 11 rounds.
When your caricature dies on the game you are require to wait until the current round ends. In this time you can scroll across and watch other players in action.
The games start with each team spawning at opposite sides of the map then using strategy and team work aim to complete the objective before the opposition team. Usually planting a bomb, rescuing hostages (seals). There are also games where its suppression were the rounds continue til everyone on one team has died and end when the time limit is up. Respawn games are also available to play, this means you can play and when you die you simply wait 2 seconds and press X to respawn. These games are played for fun and involve alot of team killing and using certain weapons.
You can create rooms on socom II online for other players to join, You can set the time limit, the number of rounds, weapon restrictions and also ban users with certain ranks.

Socom II online also supports in game comm unication where you can talk to other users over a USB headset in games and game lobbies.

There are 12 new maps available to play along with 10 old maps from the original socom.

The only disadvantage of Socom 2 in which I have experienced is that other members can sometimes be childish and teamkill you or shout abuse down the headset. Or maybe a group of people voting you froma room (this kicks you from a room) for nothing, and also people cheating and glitching to gain advantages over other players. But these people are rarely come across but they do exist on the game.
