I’m sure many PC gamers who play Real-Time Strategy games (historical games in particular) have heard of the Total War games. The series started back in 2000, and since has been one of the definitive PC strategy games, along with Command and Conquer and Rise of Nations. Now, the developer of the series, Creative Assembly, try their hand at console gaming. No, this is not a strategy game-this is a pure hack and slash game. It is a very good game, but there are some problems with the game. The game is repetitive, and sometimes monotony will sink in and you just want to finish the level. The button mashy nature of the game doesn’t help. While the visuals are nice, there ... Read the complete review

Spartan Total Warrior is an action game developed by Sega for the Playstation 2. The story follows a Spartan warrior who is fighting against the armies of Rome to defend his homeland, the Gods are on your side however and Ares promises to aid you in your struggle against the Roman army. The story takes many twists and turns and has you facing off against many mythical creatures it is actually a pretty engaging tale and I played through eager to find out what happened next. The game has changed completely from the series roots of a strategy game on the PC. Instead of commanding massive armies you control a single Spartan, the gameplay is a hack and ... This game sees you battling the Roman Empire on behalf of the Spartans and for some reason your character has no name other than Spartan. In the game you are tasked with getting vengeance for the God of War Aries against the Roman invaders and if successful you will receive the favour of the Gods. This game is quite an entertaining bash and slash style action game which is only let down by some pretty awful dialogue and a musical score which is just terrible. If you cold get rid of these then you would have a high quality game but at the end of the day they are both so annoying as to make this game average to good at best. The further into the ... This is one of the most original games i have found on the PS2. Developed by the same team that create Rome:Total War, it retains most of the action parts. To acheive this, it does however, lose alot of the stragegy element of the game. BUT, wait, this actually works in favour for this game, as it makes it much more suited to the console. For those that havnt heard of this game, it follows the story of a spartan warrior (hence the name eh), as he leds an army to fight against a god. Its very hack n slash, but also has an element of RPG in that after each level you can increase your warriors stats via 'favours of the gods'. Also your spartan will progress up through the ...
