SSX was one of the launch titles at the Playstation 2's release and was given a very favourable reception. Unfortunately being a launch titles means meeting strict deadlines not to mention having to code for a completely new console. Inevitably corners get cut and features dropped. Developer EA went back to work on the game after it was released apparently intending to create more of a special edition of SSX rather than a fully-fledged sequel. After an extra year of fine-tuning and adding features, the developers must have realised they were on to a winner. It was named SSX Tricky and the decision was made to release it at full price. Ok, so it's an old game now, it even has it's own sequel. Which is why I find myself reviewing the title so many years after it's release. If this isn't the first review you've read on Tricky, then you will no doubt be aware that it's a sequel to one of the PS2's debut games, SSX. The original SSX was incredible, still very much a game you could pick up and play now. Could they improve it? Well, somehow, yes they could. Tricky set the gaming world alight again, like the first Resident Evil, and the first Tomb Raider. It was incredible. Even with the enhanced graphics of the PS2 (Compared to PS1 that is, not Xbox or other new ... Read the complete review

SSX tricky is an absolutely brilliant game that I could not recommend more, I think it could not really be faulted. The first thing I loved about the game was the graphics. The graphics really did help me to enjoy the overall gameplay more and I just thought it made the game far better in general. The animation is superb and the characters really are very good and all have their own unique style. I really liked how there is alot of unlockables which gives a good incentive to play the game more and more. The amount of tracks and courses that are available on the game is truly diverse. There are some wonderful courses that you really can try all of your newly ... Read the complete review

EA games are known for making some of the best sports games available... SSX Tricky is brought to us from 'EA Sports BIG' - the division that releases the extreme sports games, and this snowboard racing / showing off game certianly fits into that category. SSX Tricky (SSX) is a snowboarding based game that can be played in 1 or 2 player mode. There are three basic game options that can be played - Time Challenge, Single Event or World Circuit. Time Challenge: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In time challenge mode it's a race against the clock. You choose the slope from the selection available to you and away you go... Single Event: ... Snowboarding games have never really appealed to me. And I think quite a lot of people probably feel the same way. But then came along SSX snowboarding, which changed everything. SSX broke the mould and managed to set itself aside from other snowboarding games that had come before it. It had fast arcade game-play and graphics, plenty of race modes and plenty of great features. --SSX Tricky-- SSX Tricky is the new and improved version of original SSX, and quite frankly it is superb. The original SSX was good, but SSX Tricky takes the game to the next level. If the original SSX was Microsoft DOS, then SSX tricky must ... Read the complete review
