Star Ocean Till The End of Time is a roleplaying game developed by Square Enix for the Playstation 2.

The game follows the story of a young boy named Fayt Leingod, he is enjoying himself on holiday with his family and friend Sophia when their resort is suddenly attacked. Fayt gets separated from Sophia and his parents and ends up crash landed on a primitive planet. He must find out what happened to his family and friends and join up with them again. Needless to say but Fayt gets caught up in a plot which threatens the whole galaxy and must save the day with the help of friends and allies he meets on his journey.

The combat system of Star Ocean is totally based in real time, you can execute basic attacks and two special moves which are upgradable and you learn new ones as you go on. Your party members are controllable so if you prefer to fight as them you can, each party member also has their own unique special moves and abilities. It is a simple yet very addictive battle system and one of the best available in any RPG series.

The game is really deep and there are many abilities and moves for you to learn and a high number of playable characters, you can even create your own weapons and items to fight with as well as take on numerous side missions from the various NPCs you will come across in the games many towns and cities.

The only problem I had with the game is the dungeons, this game is full of very large and confusing dungeons. The puzzles are sometimes obtuse and it is not made entirely clear what you have to do to solve them which is frustrating.

The graphics go for an anime style and succeed in capturing this fairly well, the voice acting however is sometimes terrible and will have you reaching for the mute button, disappointing as the Square Enix Final Fantasy titles have never been this bad.

Star Ocean Till the Ends of Time is a good roleplaying game and if you are looking for an epic adventure it is ideal for you.
