Advantages: see the title!!

Disadvantages: No story mode.

Star Wars Battlefront is an action game for the Playstation 2.

In the game there is no story mode to speak of, instead the game comes with a Galactic Conquest mode. In this mode you travel from planet to planet hopefully taking over the planets that you visit and eventually capture them all and win the game, it's a pretty fun mode to play and although there is no story you can pretend that you are reliving some of the epic battles from the Star Wars movies!

You can play as, the Rebel Alliance, Galactic Empire, CIS and the Clone army. Each faction has the same basic type of units however so you are not at a disadvantage to pick any of them. You can choose to play as standard Soldiers armed with rifle blasters, Heavy soldiers armed with rockets, Pilot armed with a pistol and able to use vehicles with more proficiency. Each faction also gets a special unique unit which you unlock by playing well, for the Clones you can use the Jet Trooper, Dark Trooper for the Galactic Empire, Droideka for the CIS and so on.

Playing the game is easy enough, you have a limited supply of troops that will go down as they are killed. You must capture the various control points on the map to be able to bring in troops at those locations so you can either win the matches by destroying all the opponents troops or capturing all the points so they are unable to deploy any more. The battles involve many troops on screen at a time plus loads of vehicles you are able to drive from ATSTs to X-Wing fighters so it really feels epic at times. Jedi and Sith including Darth Vader and Mace Windu do make an appearance in the game but unfortunately are not playable.

Graphically the game captures the look of the Star Wars universe well and the sounds are all authentic too.

If you have ever felt the urge to recreate some Star Wars battles this game will be right up your street.

Summary: A good action game.
