I’m a big fan of the Megadrive and one of it’s biggest hits was the Streets of Rage series. There hasn’t been a game with that intensity and human body count for ages, so who better to bring it on that the creators of Grand Theft Auto 3? I found this game second hand at the local game shop. It only cost me £15, but you should be able to pick it up new for anything from £29.99 to £19.99 depending on where you go. It seemed a bargain to me at the time, anyway. Plot - Down with society ======================== 'Ah, but what of the plot?' I hear you ask. Well, State of Emergency is set in the far future, where corporations ... Read the complete review

Following the massive success of Grand Theft Auto 3, it was hoped that State of Emergency might follow suit and be a stunningly crafted game with a great story and addictive gameplay. Sadly, it's none of these things, but it's an alright shoot em up if you're bored, even if it's got not even superficial depth and is in fact a little bland. It's a very strange game indeed, involving you attempting to overthrow an Orwellian, dystopian government with the most violent means possible. It has been called a "hooligan simulator", and like most of Rockstar's games, had the usual fleet of bored parents trying to get it banned. As a bit of fun ... Read the complete review

Enlist in the freedom movement to topple the tyrannical corporation. Freedom Agents duties include the following: Eliminate corporate officers, execute assassinations before targets flee to safety, steal sensitive items and documents from the corporation and return them to freedom agents at the safehouse, rescue captured allies from corporation deathsquads and help rescue them to safety. 1. I was not impressed with GTA3 for the PS2. The open-ended gameplay was not revolutionary. In fact it was exactly the same as the first two games - with the exception of a grainy, pixellated 3D engine that was plagued with slowdown. (The PC version later rectified these issues for the ... State of Emergency Playstation 2 Price Between £35 and £40 Depending where you go Rating 18 Let me start by saying that if graphic violence is not your thing then State of Emergency is not for you, it’s very graphic and very indiscriminate style of violence (for example throwing a hand grenade into a busy shopping mall) has upset quite a lot of people, with some states in America actually trying to ban the game, leading to it bearing at least 3 ‘Over 18s’ stickers when I bought my copy. The game is set, like so many others, in a dark corrupted future 2035, to be precise, run by the shadowy Corporation. You play one of 5 ... Read the complete review

Games that are created purely for fun are probably the best games to play because they have less of a meaning to it. Well, State of Emergency is a game meant for pure fun. It's a riot laugh! You'll notice straight away that the graphics are nothing special, but with the amount of people running riot on one screen, the game still does well to produce good graphics with no slowdown, and realistic backgrounds. There are two main modes to the game, Chaos and Revolution. In Chaos, your main objective is to basically cause havoc amongst whatever part of the city you're in. But this time, you have to kill more and more bad guys to get more time and ... Read the complete review
