The first ever PS2 version of Street Fighter features the same tired and true game play of the past games but now there are new tag team options available, a Character Edit game, and, of course, all new 128-bit graphics. So is this the ultimate PS2 fighting game? Nope! The story is pretty much the same old get the evil M. Bison storyline that has been going on now for years. Even the character endings are weak because they are very familiar text. You can to select from 16 different oddball Street Fighters like the usual Ryu, Ken, Chung Li, and Guile plus the EX exclusive characters like D. Dark, and Cracker Jack. The Streetfighter EX series has always taken on a sort of ugly-step-child role when it comes to Capcom's most famous fighting game series and it's many spin-offs. For those of you who've never seen or played one of the games, they take Capcom's famous Streetfighter characters like Ryu, Ken and Chun Li, and makes 3D models of them, but still plays them in a 2D fighter. The first two games were released in arcades, as well as recieving ports to Sony's all conquering PlayStation console, but recieved a lukewarm reception, not only from series fans, but gamers in general. It had been a while since I had played Street fighter. The countless and ultimately pointless re-releases had caused me to spurn what had been one of my favorite series. With this release on the Playstation 2 I was convinced some sort of significant advancement must have been made, sadly I was wrong. ~Gameplay~ Many of the same characters have returned for the gods knows how many `th release of the streetfighter franchise. This game rocks the planet earth its like a bag of crisps everyone wants it. I highly rate this game its graphics are cool playability’s addictive and it’s quite fast too. If you don’t have a copy buy one and I guarantee you wont put it down. I really like the characters they are unique and really good the names are cool to!
