*** The following review was written in September 2002. I have left the review untouched but have placed an update at the end to cover any changes since it was written. *** Hands up if you own any driving games. OK, most of you. Hands up if you've ever just given up on racing and turned round into oncoming traffic to see what damage you can do or perhaps you've just veered off into the scenery and started looking for something to jump the car off. Come on, don't be shy, surely I'm not the only one! OK then, different example. Gran Turismo 3. One of the most accurate and enthralling racing games available and what's the ... So you finished Driver 2 and you are getting antsy waiting for Driver 3. What do you do in the meantime? Play Stuntman, of course. Fusing a unique gameplay idea with their popular style of driving, game maker Reflections Interactive has produced an interesting, yet mediocre title that should satisfy daredevils, thrill-seekers, and casual gamers alike. You play a rookie Hollywood stuntman (the title does not lie, does it) who’s been given a chance to prove himself and rise from a virtual nobody to a hero of the silver screen. These are the people who made the series of Driver games. I have never heard of Reflections Interactive, however Atari have an excellent reputation for producing fantastic games, and having been a manic game player all my life I have spent many hours attached to the end of a controller playing an Atari game. Due to this fact I was expecting to find Stuntman another of those ... Read the complete review

I so very much wanted to love this game. It takes such a good premise - the world of the stuntman; it comes with impeccable credentials - from Reflections, the developers of Driver and Driver 2, two of the best driving games on the original Playstation; the subequent release of Grand Theft Auto meant that many of the ideas from that game could be incorporated. And yet...and yet. It's fun, but ultimately frustrating in a way that tained my enjoyment of it. Here's why. Although the work of the stuntman obviously takes many forms, Reflections decided to stick to what it has been traditionally good at, a driving-based game. You start the game as a ...
