In many respects, the Tekken series of the mid and late nineties came to define the PlayStation generation. It did for the beat 'em up genre what Gran Turismo managed for racing games – shaking up peoples views of a stagnating genre and showcasing unrivalled levels of depth and eye-popping visuals. But though 1998's Tekken 3 brought about a triumphant end to the series PSOne legacy, fans would have to wait four years for its true sequel to appear. Tekken 4, first released on the PS2 in 2002, is a 3D beat 'em up that carries on where the third instalment left off, following the events of the fourth 'King of Iron Fist' tournament, and as ever there's plenty at ... The King of Iron Fist Tournament has reared its head again in the form of Tekken 4. “Namco” produces the Tekken series of games and they pretty much specialize in beat-them-ups. It is a shame to read that last bit as Tekken 4 is disappointing not only by fighting game standards but by any computer game. Having played all the previous versions – of which Tekken 3 is the best up to this point – I am pained by my ownership of version number 4. [To be fair, I have never really enjoyed the Tekken games that much, but it’s one of those games that everyone goes on about so much that it must be worth owning.] Not that the plot matters much to a fighting game, but it ... After nearly a 4 year wait Tekken 4 came exclusively for the Playstation2 only and unlike the Tekken Tag Tournament game the story actually continues where the mega popular Tekken 3 left off. Almost everybody loved the Tekken games for the original Playstation and those fast paced fighting games sure helped to get the Playstation noticed plus it also helped to kill off the competition like Sony's rival the Sega Saturn and their 3D fighter Virtua Fighter. Now here we have the 4th edition of this legendary beat em up. Tekken 4 has some brand new feature to the aging series like new interactive backgrounds, a couple of new fighters, and more but is it really a better game ... Read the complete review

Tekken 4 is a fighting game developed by Namco exclusively for the Playstation 2. Tekken 4 is the fourth instalment of the main Tekken series, disregarding the earlier Tag Tournament as a spin off game. As Tekken Tag Tournament was brilliant and they don't even regard it as a main game it wouldn't be to much to hope that Tekken 4 would blow your mind! The game sadly strips back the amount of characters you can take through the story mode but does include a couple of new ones like Craig Marduk a mountain of a man with powerful moves, the agile Christie Montiero who is sadly an Eddie Gordo clone and Steve Fox a boxer who attacks only with ... The PS2 now has Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur and Tekken, and each one will be gunning for the beat-em-up crown. VF4 has arrived, and Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat are still quite a while away...but what of Tekken 4, just released in Japan, ready to be ported for the UK? Well, we've had Tekken Tag since launch day, but it was more of a spin-off than a true sequel. It left us wanting a TRUE successor to T3; and now the Iron Fist is back with a vengeance. Tekken has long been regarded as the best 3D fighter: it has the depth, the characters, the story, and the AI...and guess what? All of these things have been made ten times better for number ...
