Advantages: Massive character list, super graphics.

Disadvantages: if you dont like fighting games dont buy it!

Tekken tag is the next in the series from Namco. Their first venture onto the Playstation 2.
This was available on the ps2 launch day which meant the ps2 had a kind of alright line up.

I purchased this game, well pre ordered it as tekken games have always been very very good. From tekken 1-3 on the original playstation this game was set for very high standards.

So first off is the intro, Some beautiful cg scenes to watch. Really showing what can be done from a magic black box.

Once youve closed your mouth and the cg has finished the menu is shown. Its pretty much the same layout as its always been.
You can choose from the folowing game modes -
Arcade - The first thing you'll play. Choose a character and off to battle you go. Unveiling the characters story as you go. Not all characters are available to start with, you need to complete upto certain stages etc to unlock more.

Vs Battle - This is a two player bout, you and your friends can take on each other. Always good fun! You can adjust the handicap, in case your playing someone not familiar with the game.

Team battle - Choose upto 8 players and battle away at the computer or friend. Characters are usable until they are knocked out. So the first one to loose all players loses!

Time attack - Complete the game as fast as you can.

Survival - You take on player after player, but your life does not regenerate. So last as long as you can in this one!

One on one - Pretty much self explanitory! One players versus another.

Practice - Choose a character, and practice with them here to learn the moves and combos!

Theatre - View all the characters moveis/endings in here, they can be upto 4 per person. So a few to watch then!!

Gallery - You can go here to view images you have snapped from during the game. Basically you can take snapshots at any point during a fight and review them here!

One thing you will notice is that you now use the left analogue stick to "tag" your partner in. So if your getting your arse kicked change to you fresh faced partner to take revenge. The conept is very clever, but i miss the days of one on one. But oh well change can be good.
And after playing it for a while its actually not too bad at all.
When the other player is not being used their life will regenerate, slowly.
Also some characters can do a "tag" move on your oppenent. But only characters that are related together one way or another.
The player mechanicas are the same, all having basic moves and more complex ones to learn, master those combo routines!

Tekken tag took tekken graphically to the next level, the graphics were the best around at the time. If youve been a fan of the series , then this game must be bought. If your new to tekken again this game must be bought. It is one of the best fighting game available!

Summary: A great addition to the tekken series which holds its own!
