Advantages: Different. Reasonably good story, dark but fitting music

Disadvantages: Controller cannot be configured.

The Tenchu series is an odd type of game being a stealth game.

In this, you play as one of two characters and can play as a third character one you unlock them.

There are missions of assisination in this game, and you will need to be patient. Trying to get past guards or to kill them can be time consuming, just waiting for the right moment to move.

It is a game of great patience and skill.

Trying to avoid the enemy and kill only those you are assigned to is actually quite difficult as you almost always seem to get one other enemy see you. Within seconds, you are surrounded and the fighting is quite hard, especially when outnumbered.

Having access to various ninja tools can make you job slightly easier. Throwing daggers are just one example.

It is a violent game and is rated an 18. Although there is a later version of this game available for the PS2, this one is the one to get for multiplayer.

Each level on multiplayer has different actions you have to perform. One level, you cannot be spotted by any enemies, on another you have to kill everyone but again without been seen.

Everything in the game has been well thought through. The music is dark but very fitting with the Japanese setting. Also, the graphics are quite dark, however this does add to the atmosphere of the game very well indeed.

Playing this game can be frustrating. It looks like it should be so simple but the challenge is incredibly high. This keeps you determined to get through that next little bit, time and time again.

The controls are a little odd in that what most games use as 'standard' buttons, this one creates it's own standard. Unfortunately, the designers do not allow you to configure your controller.

These days it is available cheaply from places such as eBay and I would highly recommend it. Note that it is an 18 and does have some very violent scenes, so this isn't for everyone.

Summary: Good game, but cannot really be classed as a fighting game. You really need patience too!
