The Italian Job -LA Heist, a game manufactured by Eidos, and is a driving and racing game released in 2003. It was released in connection with the release of the 2003 remake of the original 1969 version of the same name.
You can play a varity of different games including; Story mode, free play, stunt driving and circuit races.
Story mode-basically as it sounds. A player has control of a car (usually a mini) and is given missions to complete which follow the storyline of the flm. As you progress through the game levels, they gradually get harder and for completing them you get more points and better prizes. Against the clock and if you run out of time, you lose.
Free Play-as it says. Unlimted time to explore a location and speed the mini's round tight corners or crashing into other cars.
Stunt Driving-4 course that you complete in a mini. you have to get an A or a B to pass and the course is easy to fall off making this the hardest part of the game. However after a while it can get boring and repetitive.
Circuit Races-Unlocked in story mode. You can choose out of a few veichals and race them against the computer of the 2nd player around 4 different courses. Easily practised after time in free play and is easy to get bored. The computer is easy to beat so it's worth spliting the screen and have real competition.
The game music is quiet and over the nosie of the car you can barely hear it. Which makes it slightly dull listening to cars screeching around (but they do sound realistic) instead of music.
The graphics are good, not great. Nothing to shout about but not incredabily bad either. Lots of detail like parking meters and little signs, but it doesn't really make a lot of difference.
The control are the basic choice of analoge or the directional pad. Either way is easy enough to master, and the buttons are all close (gas and brake next to each other) so this also makes the cars easy to control.
*Overall*
Some parts are good; controls are easy and the cars are realistic to look at and hear; but the rest is just average. The damage that can be done to the cars is poor (at most loads of smoke coming out from the bonnet) and it's annoying when the car flipps over as you can't correct it so your basically stuck. i would say rent don't buy (18.00 from amazon is a rip off).
