Do you want to be "the" king of the fighters?
This game has a cartoon feel to it, similar to street fighter but i would say that there are considerably more charcters to this game and this gives The king of the fighters a fast paced and exciting classic feel when playing it.
Lets start with gameplay, the gameplay is easy enough and is similar to what you play when you go to the arcade, You have some special moves, you can string up combos and you can use you super to defeat those who dare to challenge you.
There are lots of charcters in this game and they are all split into specific teams. There are also some new teams and some special charcters and Bosses.
I would say that the downside of this game is that it does not really have an in depth stroy line, its just like any old arcade game where you just fight and wait for the next round to start and then fight again until you get to the final level and defeat the boss then the game finishes.
Overall, I would truly recommend this game to arcade lovers and those that have people to play with because it does get tedious after a while by yourself but if you play with your friends or family members, it will get exciting. Definitely a classic that will never turn old.
Having looked already at the Tekken series, it's SNK's chance to show what they can do with their 2d fighting game "the King of Fighters Neowave" . This Streetfighter liike clone certainly looks impressive, sure it's not all fancy and 3D like the Tekkens but the cartoon element that keeps many 2D fighterspopular is still there and its alive and well.
In some ways I prefer games like this to 3D fighers, I think I like the simplicity of it all and the way the screen doesn't keep moving, plus it reminds me of the old arcade games I used to play as a kid.
This game has it's bonuses, the ability to play 3 against three is pretty neat, although not new as previous editions of the game ahave included this. All moves are pretty simple to do following the old school formula of (back back X) etc . The moves are fun to do and the action is fast paced.
Soundwise the game doesn't offer too much for what it is its ok, and probably goes well with the action as it unfolds.
With plenty of characters to choose from and a reasonable level of difficulty i'd say anyone picked up Neowave would have a decent experience with it. I'm gonna give it a thumbs up, a good fighter, not the best, but certainly fun for a while.
