Advantages: Relive Neos entire journey, excellent fighting system, good story.

Disadvantages: Ending is a little weird.

The Matrix Path of Neo is an action game developed by Shiny for the Playstation 2.

The story of the game takes you right from Neos humble beginnings as the unenlightened office worker who finds out about the Matrix and takes the red pill, everything in the films you will relive from the opening scenes from the Matrix which have you escape from the office building climbing over the scaffolding to the exciting showdown against Agent Smith from the Matrix Revolutions. The story is very well represented though they throw a twist at you with the ending which you may or may not like!

The game has you always play as Neo but over the course of the game his abilities develop significantly when you start the game the best Neo can manage is to push his way past people! Soon after you enter the Matrix you will gain access to the excellent kung fu moves and guns that you are here for, like the Enter the Matrix you have a focus meter but as you play you will be able to unlock more focus for longer more acrobatic moves.

Focus will slow down the game and enable you to perform some of the spectacular moves, the game has dozens of combos to learn including some super long complicated ones that can only be accomplished in focus mode. The games gunplay is slightly annoying as you have to hold the R2 button whenever you want your guns out in addition to pressing the trigger to fire, still it looks great with all the dodges and dives you can do.

The games best moments are those when it captures the feel of the films, the fight against Morpheus, the first agent encounter on the rooftops, the burly brawl where you face off against dozens of Agent Smiths. All of these moments are just epic.

Graphics seem to have been upgraded from Enter the Matrix and there are a lot of fully destructible environments which is very impressive for a Playstation 2 game.

Path of Neo has some excellent action in it and allows you to relive the entire journey of the One, fantastic game.

Summary: An excellent game.
