Advantages: it's a whole new life
Disadvantages: it can get boring sometimes
OK, so if I am I going to be completly honest the original sims game is not as good on PS2 as it is on the computer but for all those people (me included) who do not have the memory on our computers to run the sims, the PS2 version is a good second best.
The first task to play the sims on ps2 is to get through a life as your created sim. You have a selection of hair styles, clothes and personality traits to choose from, although what you choose has little effect on the game.
The game begins with you having a dream about getting into a hot tub with a man or woman depending on the sex of your own sim but sadly your mother wakes you up and you are back to sim reality. Your aims in the first level are to fix your mum's place up this includes fixing the tv, taking the trash out and making a meal for the first time. It is vital that you get key cooking skills here or you might end up setting the place on fire. In order to progress to the next level you have to borrrow 100 simeoleons from your mum and then get a job(you can choose from been a subway musician, waitress or go into the military). Once you have a job and money you can move out into your own house owned by Mimi's Dad.
This house is in a terrible condition, it looks like a fire has taking out half of the kitchen and there is rubbish everywhere. Plus, alot of the equipment that is there is broken. Your aim is to smarten the place up and go up two job levels. Once, you have completed this Mimi will ask you to move in with her.
Mimi's house is alright but in order to pass this level you have to spend abit of your own money on new furniture..a hot tub would help because you need to throw can awesome party to progress (cooking a meal, having music, balloons and a hot tub will all help) You also have to move up another 2 job levels and make friends with one of Mimi's mates to move in with them.
Now you are in with someone new and their house is quite nice...luckily. Now concentrate on your career and love life. In order to get to the next level you have to throw another party but I would not advise this until you have completed your job aims. You need to "make out" with one of the guests at your party and this will lead to a marriage proposal and you moving in with your new spouce.
The last but one level will see you and your partner moving into a house that lacks furniture and organisation so get to work because you are expected to have kids in this level so plenty of kissing and cuddling is needed but don't neglect your career becasue again you have to go up 2 levels.
With your spouce and 2 kids you can go to the last level this is an old drafty mansion but rather stylish and grand with fountains and eveything. Get you kids into prep school with top grades, get to the top level of you chosen career, throw a raging retirement party and have enough to buy a boat and you have completed your task.
Now you have completed the get a life section of the game you can choose to play the free life section which means you can play without aims and just enjoy life as sim. You can get married, have kids and get a job. You can create a whole community of sims.
Why you should love the sims
-you can mess up somebody elses life for a change.
-you can play match maker
-you can create lovely children sims
Why you maybe don't like the sims that much
-they spend too much time sleeping
-the baby sims cry all the time
-the job requirements are a bit tough
-it can get a bit boring sometimes
Here are a few cheats I know that really help but I suggest doing the game without helo first....
- press R1, R2, L1, L2 alltogether on the opening screen and this will bring up and cheat menu.
-enter FREEALL this will make everything free like furniture.
-enter FISHEYE to be able to see everything through the eyes of your sim.
-enter MIDAS to unlock all locked items like clothing.
-eneter SIMS to unlock the second level of the game without playing get a life.
The sims for PS2 is available from all major shops like HMV and Asda or online on Play, Amazon and Ebay.
Summary: one of the best games ever invented
