When I discovered that a PS2 version of the original game was to be released, albeit reworked for the new console I couldn't wait. For those not familiar with the games our heroine is Lara Croft and we follow her adventures from a 3rd person perspective (the camera views the action from behind Lara). Lara is searching for an artefact called the Scion and her search takes her to various locations including Peru and Egypt amongst others. Puzzles aplen...more

Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PS2): The best Tomb Raider ever (278 words)

This was the game I bought the original playstation to play. I think it was 1996/97 when this first came out and I remember going to a mates house and he said "you've got to see this" and put on Tomb Raider. About a week later I had my own console and copy of this game, and even to this day have to say it is quite possibly my favourite game ever. I still have every PS1 version of Tomb Raider and the subsequent PS2 versions and eagerly await the upcoming PS3 game too. So since the flops of the later Playstation games and Angel of Darkness the flame was handed to Crystal ...  Read the complete review

This is the best Tomb Raider to date. Crystal Dynamics have reimagined the original 1996 Tomb Raider and given it a new lease of life thanks to the PS2. As anyone whose played the original PSone Tomb Raider's will tell you, they were not big on making a lot of sense plot-wise, and boss battles invariably involved you up against another character with your guns. This game is the remedy to that. Let me explain, in this game, boss battles come in two forms, a button-pressing cutscene similar to Legend's cutscenes and the traditional gun fights. Lara will fight human enemies in the cutscenes and all other boss's in the gunfights. The boss' ...  Read the complete review
