Advantages: Nail the trick and some of the controls
Disadvantages: Nearly the whole think, the creat a player, the maps, the goals the list goes on
I have every single Tony Hawks game. When I heard that another game was coming out I got really excited. Another Tony Hawks game, "yay, it's going to be better and harder than Tony Hawks American wasteland." The day it came out I went to the shop and got it. I ran home, put it on and started playing. It was really easy to start, unlike some of the games I own. At first glance it looks really good but slowly as you get into it you think to your self, was that just a waste of my money.
The create a player at the start of the game is terrible. There are three people to choose from. You can then only change certain parts of them. The usual hair, hair colour, skin colour and face setup. But some faces have features like lip rings you cant remove or change where they are. Other people have bags, hats and other features you can't get rid of which is really annoying.
Games are supposed to get better and more challenging as they come out and the creators get more knowledge. But this game is disappointing.
There are some good points to the game. Some of the controls have been adapted to make the moves easier to do and this adds speed to the pace of the game.
Some other good points are the loading screens are now better because they have videos playing whilst the page is loading.
Also when you want to watch videos, you unlock them in the game when you meet the skater or sponsor. Once you have done that you have the option to watch sponsor videos, skater videos and a day in the life of the skater. "A day in the life" videos are really good they are longer than normal videos and have some information in them but there is no speaking in them.
There is also another type of game play feature called 'nail the trick'. You can do it in free skate or as a goal. I use it in free skate to get better at it for goals.
When you are doing a career mode you can now fail, get amateur, pro or sick. I think this is a very good feature because as you get better you can redo the goal but harder. If you are new to the Tony Hawks games there is now a tutorial level to help you get to grip with the basic controls.
Graphics:
On this game I think the graphics are very good, but not the best. There are a few glitches in the game and when you stand at certain places all you see is a black abyss
Game play:
I think some of the game play is good but could be improved even though it is the 8th game like this and you thought they would have learnt after making such an amazing game like Tony Hawks American wasteland.
Sound:
There is a vary of songs on this game ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Damian Marley. When you think of skate boarders and the music you associate to them is a heavy metal or some think fast and noisy but in this game you have a mix of music like reggae, rap, R&B and your typical metal.
Extra information
One or two player, memory card (8mb) for play station 2, 200kb minimum, analog sticks only and vibration compatible.
Summary: Only buy this game to see how bad it is because you will be disappointed
