Advantages: Excellent shooting action, very satisfying, good setting and graphics

Disadvantages: Story a little basic

Urban Chaos Riot Response is a shooter for the Playstation 2 developed by Eidos.

The game takes place with you playing as Nick Mason a member of the police forces new T-Zero division which has been formed because the city is in chaos thanks to a gang called the Burners. The gang is causing havoc and rioting all over the city, it is your job to simply stop them causing chaos and restore order to the city. It's a basic storyline but it is satisfying and gives you a chance to dispense some police brutality on the nasty thugs!

The offers excellent first person shooting action, missions involve taking out multiple foes who are all absolutely crazy shouting profanities and charging at you wearing hockey masks and all! The guns you take control of are varied ranging from pistols, shotguns, sniper rifles and more. The weapons are supremely satisfying to unload into the enemies and the blood and gore in the game is pretty significant which helps with the sense of power.

The game also gives you a Riot shield which is one of the most useful items in the game as it protects you from damage though while using it you use you cannot fire your guns, it is handy cover though and you can peek over at opportune moments and pop off a few headshots. If you prefer a more in your face approach however you can walk up to enemies safe from harm and bash them with the shield!

You are aided by some computer controlled police and medics, firecrew and so on. Police can really give you a hand providing targets for the enemies as well as dispensing some justice and medics can restore your health so are always handy to have around, it also makes you feel part of a team and not just a one man killing machine, which would just be silly!

The games graphics are of a good standard with detailed character models and multiple enemies and friendlies on screen at once. The game also offers some good looking gritty urban environments.

Urban Chaos Riot Response is an excellent first person shooter which didn't get the attention it deserved, try it out!
