Well after numerous hours of playing this game I have come to two conclusions which I will discuss in a moment but at first let me give you an overview of this game. American wrestling is sports entertainment at its very best. It is a mixture of high flying athletes to soap opera style writing. Now I am not a big wrestling fan (although I used to be when I was younger) the theatrics and the way the 'storylines' are written got too much for me passed the age of sixteen. Now the basics in this game are easy to follow, with a variety of moves at your disposal you have to beat your opponent up until you can pin him 1-2-3. There are hundreds of popular wrestlers ... Well, this has been rated my many wrestling lovers, and gamers, the best wrestling game of all time! and quite frankly, after buying and playing(well, maybe over-playing) this game I agree!! If you like wrestling, you'll love this game, and even if you don't, you'll love this game. This game has some of the most recent(not all) wrestlers, and some of the biggest legends! There are more match types to play in one or two player modes(up to 5players with a multi-tap and up to 6players with two multi-taps). such as the ELIMINATION CHAMBER, FIRST BLOOD MATCHES, ELIMINATION TAG(or elimination 6-man tag), BRA & PANTIES and many more!! There is also a whole ... Read the complete review

Playability & Enjoyment : With 60+ wrestlers and 70+ match (including the addition of the elimination chamber & a bra & pantie match) types there truly is something for everyone. Also there has ben a complete overhaul of the season mode which is more dynamic than the stale versions of the past few games. Addictiveness : Very addictive. You'll keep ... The fifth game in the smackdown series is here... HERE COMES THE PAIN. Again the controls are simple but somthing has been added... THE GRAPPLE SYSTEM. Let me explain to you. You press O and a direction button to get the person in a hold the press O and a direction to do a move. Depending on which direction you click first changes the type of move you will perform. Here are the types... Up-Power Move Down-Submission Left-Signature Right-Quick Thats how to to use the grapple system. Also counters have been changed. Now L2 is Punch/Kick Counter and R2 is the grapple counter. Square has been changed to pick up weapon and exit ... Read the complete review

Ah , I put this game on the other day for the first time in a few years and one question came to mind - How did WWE games go from here to where they are now? This was the pinnacle of the Smackdown series on the PS2. Before I get bogged down on the details the best part of the game for me is it's gameplay. Second only to the N64 WWF No Mercy grappling system, this is the best a PS2 seen for a wrestling game. Simple Pressing "O" plus either of the four direction initiates a different kind of grapple. From there pressing either up , down , left or right along with "O" does a different move. And thats just from the front. Why they changed this system i'll ... Read the complete review
