Advantages: Loads of features and option
Disadvantages: None other than being very addictive
You definitely do not have to be a fan of WWE to enjoy this excellent fighting game, it does help a bit in the understanding of some of the storylines that run through the game but it is not a real requirement and the fact that I have maybe watched the wrestling programme only a handful of times did not disadvantage me or reduce my enjoyment of the game.
What I especially liked about this game is the fact that it is packed with loads of features which gives it a good amount of replay action to it and it is certainly a game that I have never really got tired of playing. One of the features I especially liked is the ability to create your own wrestler and you can really get caught up in the detail of the game.
When it comes to the game play there are a whole host of different options available to you, you can set up the fights in a number of different arenas and there are a number of different matches available. My particular favourite is the hardcore match which can take place in a number of different locations including an underground station with running trains, the car park, locker room and even the WWE restaurant. You are able to move between areas and each one has a whole host of weapons available for your use to get a few cheap shots in. Amongst the different match options as well as hardcore there is Royal Rumble, six man tag, handicap and survival matches as well as the regular tag team and one on one contest. Just to give you even more choice you can also add in
to each match a secondary option as well to make it even more interesting.
All of the major WWE characters are available for you to fight as and this is one of the smoothest games in terms of character movement that I have played in the wrestling genre. The action is fast paced however one feature I did like that this game has over earlier versions is the fact that there is a slightly bigger emphasis on grappling skills and at times this serves to slow down the action a bit so that you can plan out your strategy.
One of the things that this game is very good at is making the characters perform just like their real life counterparts therefore all of the wrestlers special moves are included and they will tend to adopt the same fighting style just like they do in WWE. This brings a very realistic feel to the game and combined with the excellent graphics which are very sharp and well tuned the end result is a top quality game.
Add this a great soundtrack including some impressive ring entrances and a commentary system that has been toned down a bit and is now less obtrusive and this is a game I would definitely recommend as there are so many options to investigate you can actually forget to do any fighting.
Available in the new and used section from Amazon for £2.29 this one is well worth getting your hands on.
Summary: WWE wrestling game.
