Disadvantages: Can Get A Little Slow...

When I was walking through the busy market of Studley last year looking for some bargains, I noticed this wrestling game. I don't usually buy electrical goods or games or any form of music from car boot sales, but this game really caught my eye. ..

I had started to get into wrestling a little bit more for some reason, so I carefully studied the box that it came in and looked on the back where it read out some of the features of the game and who published it and what format the game was on. I decided to buy the game for only £5.00 which I thought was a very decent price...

I turned on my Play Station 2 and put in the disc and then up came a start menu, I clicked the start menu and then the fun began, there was a lot to explore on this game...

=== What Is Smackdown VS Raw 2006 ===

Before I rattle on about how good the games is, heres a little bit about what it is. Smackdown VS Raw 2006 ( Also known as SVR06) is a wrestling game from the proffessional company of the WWE ( World Wrestling Entertainment). There is so much reality in the game and that was the aim to have this as it would stand out more than the usual playing type of the previous smackdown vs raw games. There are many new features and match types and wrestlers featured in this game so it is definitly one I could rank at the top of my list for play station games...

=== The Matches ===

All in all on this game there are one hundred different match types available for you to play on. Most of the types of match have been improved, but there are also some new additions to the match features. Of course there are just too many matches to list, and you should discover some for yourself. My six most favourite matches are...

1. Hell In A Cell Match

This is a match where you and an opponent battle it out in a huge cage covering the ring, and the only exit is the door if you can mange to get the time to escape and take a breather. You can battle out with your oponent for such a while inside the cage and you can bash your opponents face against the metal. You can also brawl against your opponent after clibming onto the cage. Your finishing move could even make your opponent crash the te cage. This is a very exiting type of match, a little violent and not everyones cup of tea, but I enjoy playing it...

2. Royal Rumble Match

The Royal Rumble is another one of my favourite matches. On this game a Royal Rumble means that two wrestlers starts of a match and then enters another superstar three minutes later. Thirty superstars enter in total and anyone of them can be eliminated after being thrown or pushed over the top ring rope. If you are elminated after your health bar which shows how close you are to being pushed over the rope, you can press select to switch to another wrestler in the ring. I love this match as who knows who will come out the winner with so many entering...

3. Fullfil Your Fantasy Match

Now, this match is no where near as extreme as any of the other matches, but this match is for divas ( female wrestlers ) only. This match youst to be played as a match named bra and panties, but this match type took it's place this year and it involves two divas fighting each other with their moves and hitting each other with pillows until there momentum meter is full to hit an ending shot. This match has a bed and a carpet inside it's ring, and you are not allowed outside of the ring, it just locks in all the exitment. Your diva has to pull off the other divas top and skirt to win and strip them tuntil they only have bra and panties on. You can dress as a french maid, a nurse or a school girl. This is quite a cheeky match but anyone can enjoy it...

4. Buried Alive Match

This match is quite a new match and very improved from the last game it was featured on. This match was invented by the legend himself " The Undertaker ", and proves to be quite an entertaining yet vicious match. The match let's you outside of the ring without any countouts, and your plot is to get your opponent over to the casket which is very near to the entrance stage which is surrounded by sand, and you have to whip your opponent to the casket and attempt to push them in as your momentum meter rises. You can also access weapons such as chairs and a spade in this match to do more collateral damage to your opponent. This is quite a violent match but it can be quite challenging but I really enjoy playing it...

5. Steel Cage Match

The steel cage match is quite exiting. In reality in the wrestling world, there are very vicious steel cage matches, usually for the championships, and in this match, theres just as much fun and exitment. The steel cage match involves you and an opponent of a tag team partner, where you try to cimb and escape the large structure ithout your opponent catching you and bringing you back down. If you don't think you can manage climbing out of the cage, you can lay a pinfall over you opponent ( 1 2 3 ) which is counted by the referee who stops all of the cheating in normal matches. This match is very exiting and very tense when you and your opponent reach the height of the cage. Be careful your head doesn't get hit off the cage too many times...

6. Singles Match

Now in this match there is no big stipulation unlike the other matches. This match is just a plain match shown on WWE wrestling all of the time. You may be thinking that this match is bland, but it is a match tempting you to avoid the weapons and stick to the rules. I love playing normal singles matches and letting your finishing moves shine. The ways to win are by pinfall (1 2 3 ) , submission , which means you or your opponent lock in a submission move and make you or them tap out. Finally, if you have enough then you may just lose by countout when you are outside of the ring and can't answer the referees count to ten. I would recomend this to be your first match to try out when you get the game...

These are my most favourite types of match. There are plenty more matches for you to enjoy, including tag team matches and championship matches, although I do recomend these if you like the sound of them...

=== Game/Create Modes ===

In this game, you can choose to play in exhibition matches, or you can play in a season mode. A season mode is where you choose an available wrestler to face opponenets and end up on each brand, and attempt to win both the WWE Championship and The World Heavyweight Championsip. There are scenes from storylines which look like reality, and the wrestlers talk in these scenes. Very interesting don't you think?...

You have your own locker room in season mode, where you can purchase furniture after winning matches, and make your locker room even more attractive. There are only a few superstars that can not be played in season mode. Ric Flair isn't playable in season mode, but other great legends such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan are playable...

There is another game mode which is the General Manager mode. You are in control of being the general manager and you are the one that makes all of the matches, and adds the stipulations, draft superstars from each brand or buy free superstars if there is enough room on your 20 man roster. You can choose between managing Raw or Smackdown, and each brand has four championships. It get's even more impressive because there are some other features such as the E-Mail feature which allows you to read emails that have been sent by superstars or offers from rival brands...

There is also some very impressive creating abilities featured in the game. One of these creating abilities are the Create An Entrance mode, where you can customize a superstars entrance music, video and effects such as lighting and pyros ( Fireworks )...

Another creating ability is for you to customize a superstars move set. Create A Move Set allow you to change each superstars moves from powerfull to old school, from high flyer to brawler, it's completely up to you. You can also chose a superstars taunts and crowd favourite gestures...

You can also creat your own superstar, which means you choose your wrestlers name, and where they come from, their weight and what they look like. You can make your wrestler a man or a woman, which ever you choose. You can put make up or any sort of outfit on your brand new superstar, and then they are ready for action...

You can also make your own tag team or stable. This means you can have a group of wrestlers associated with a certain group name who contend for the tag team titles on each brand. You can add upto 6 superstars in your stable...

Finally, you can create your own championship belt when you have enough money earned. You can even create your own tag team titles, covered in jewels or anything you choose on sale in the Create A Belt mode. These titles can be up for grabs in the exhibition mode of the game for you to battle out against...

=== Wrestlers ===

Of course you can't have a game without any characters. The characters in this game are the wrestlers. There are plenty of male and female wrestlers on the smackdwon, raw and even the legend roster. My favourite superstar to play on the RAW roster is massive and destructive Big Show. Smackdown holds my most favourite superstar which is the legendary Undertaker, who mny of us have heard about. My favourite legend on the game has to be Hulk Hogan or The Rock. Everyone has heard of Hulk Hogan and maybe the Rock, but these two are definitelyat legend status. There are so many more wrestlers featured on the game for you to play, and change their move sets, but some are absent from the season mode, but only a few...

=== Sound ===

The sound on Smackdown VS Raw 2006 really did make full use of my Play Station headphones. There are many different songs which play when the superstars come through the entrance stage as their own theme tunes. Also, on the main menu's and the sub menu's there are some great rock or soft rock tracks which aren't bad to listen to. These songs can be played as the superstars entrance themes which I have done with my superstars entrance before...

=== My Opinion ===

In my honest opinion, I must have to say I was so pleased when I bought and tried the game out. There was just so much to explore and I always found myself trying again and again to win when I had previously lost. There are some fantastic features and some realistic scenes and wrestling faces which all add to the effect of the game. These graphics such as the wrestlers faces are fantastic and really do look like the real thing. I must also say that this is one of the best games I own and I must keep buying the rest of the new Smackdown VS Raw games in upcoming years. There was only one thing wrong with this game, and that was that there were too many loading screens and it could be a little bit slow at times, but other than that it is a great game!!!...

=== Why Should You Buy The Game ===

You should by the game as it is so entertaining and exiting. It can be fairly violent so I suggest that a parent or someone older should accompany the younger players. This game has so many features and so many diffferent wrestlers and matches, you could even mistake it for the real thing!!!...

You can purchase this game online and not in very many shops as it is an older game that was released two years ago. Online you can purchase this game for around £8.00 to around £12. These prices certainly aren't bad for this game, but if you think that these prices are expenisve for a game released a little while ago, you won't be thinking the same when you give it a try. Remember to keep up with all the rest of the Smackdown VS Raw games coming up in years to come...

On a scale of one to ten, this game deserves a big 8/10!!!...
