X-Men Legends is a role playing game for the Playstation 2 developed by Activision.

The game begins showing you Allision Crestmere who discovers she is a mutant but she is rescued by the X-Men and is taken to Charles Xaviers school where she can train her powers and becomes Magma. The game soon picks up and takes you through a typical comic book storyline which involves Sentinals, saving the world, and all the villains from the X-Men series showing up to take you out including Magneto and Sabretooth. Its a very comic book style story with lots of unbelievable plots for all your favourite X-Men to solve.

The gameplay is very much like an action RPG such as Diablo. You control up to four X-Men able to switch between them at will and all your favourite heroes are here, Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, Beast , Iceman, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Jean Grey, Gambit .. The list is truly extensive, if they ever appeared in the comic books chances are you are able to play them in the game.

The gameplay is fairly basic with each X-Men character playing pretty much identically, you can do some simple combos and throws if you want something deep with different moves for each character you won't find that here, just simple button bashing fun. The games missions are all of a fairly basic nature too normally requiring you to go from point a to point b while beating up a large quantity of basic henchmen.

The game also lets you use the super powers of the heroes. You can use your powers like Wolverine claws or zap some people with lightning as Storm or fry some guys with Cyclops laser vision and the game even include Xtreme moves that are basically the supermoves of the game which involve really massive bursts of power coming from your X-Men, brilliant!

As you play you also level up and gain new abilities and powers for your characters which is addictive and keeps you playing to unlock more and more! The game is also co-op which is great fun as you a friend can take control of your favourite characters and beat up bad guys together!

Graphics are pretty good though I noticed the characters look like their comic book selves rather than the movie actors which isn't really a bad thing.

If you like the X-Men or superheroes you should try this game out, it is a lot of fun.
