Advantages: Superb Game Play & Amazing A.I

Disadvantages: Maybe More Diffrent Types of Missions Would Have Been Desired

I recently purchased Assassin's Creed for the PS3. This game is a huge step for the console arena, with a truly massive gameplay world. With both street level and rooftops used to move around, most buildings are climbable and an AI structure to the game that has not been seen before, this title has broke the mould in my opinion.

You get to explore three of the massive cities, Jerusalem, Damascus and Acre and meet lots of interesting people, and, if they are deserving, kill them. At the start of proceedings you are on a mission which ends in failure, stripped of rank and weaponry you then get sent out on missions to regain your rank and weapons. The plot is, rather strange, but novel, I'll not go into too many details as that would spoil things but the whole game is not as it first seems, prior to playing and the interludes are rather smart in that they aren't cut scenes but ones you play out using the game engine.

The controls in the game are amazing. You are introduced to new weapons and skills as you go more in depth into the game.

The graphics are, as the NextGen title suggest amazing and realistic. Altaïr's movements are graceful and watching him climb up the sides of buildings is poetry in motion. Also the movements of your horse, once you get outside, are just as nice, movements are fluid and you can really forget you are watching a video game. Visuals of the cities from the tops of buildings is simply stunning and you can really see lavish care has been taken by Ubisoft in the looks department. The people in the crowd are different enough that you don't see the same person twice in a crowd, and the street beggars are just as annoying as the real things.

The sound is just as good as the graphic. although some of the speech of people does get repetitive at times which might anoy some people but on the whole though the voice acting is extremely good and the background effects of the city and countryside are nothing amazing.

The missions are not as varied as you would expect and to some people may become abit confusing at times. You just have to be more aware of what is going on in the game and all comes clear.

Overall an amazing game to play with graphics to match. The game's story is also a strong point and. I won't ruin any of the surprises, I will say that Assassin's Creed does a great job of weaving a deep and enjoyable narrative.

Recon - 25/01/08

Apparently, this game has broken many PS3's, due to some kind of bug that messes up the console..Just a warning to people out there who don't download the 'patch' update to fix this.

It can take up to three months to fix and send back your PS3, so don't let it brake! It's even worse than the 360!
