Quantum of Solace - Playstation 3
Quantum of Solace is a movie to video game crossover which was tied into the launch of the movie, any game featuring James Bond will always be compared to 'Goldeneye' which is said to be one of the most famous video games ever; this means there is a lot for this game to live up too but seeing how its on the brilliant PS3 console this shouldn't be a problem. This game is made by Treyarch a well known reputable game company.
Great effort was put into the game, one of the first things I noticed was that they tried very hard to make the James Bond character look like Daniel Craig, not only does he do voice-overs for the game but the character detail is brilliant.
The rest of the game is not so great, the cars, environmental effects and the gunfire all look really average and the cover system despite being a great addition is not that great either as sometimes he makes it into cover and other times he just ends up standing in the middle of gunfire leaving you wondering what's going on and why you are dying so quickly. The control system is not that great either, from what I have seen this game comes no way near competing with 'Goldeneye' at all.
Quantum of Solace has pretty good multiplayer functions, the COD 4 engine provides the game with a solid multiplayer foundation. There is normal deathmatch, Golden Gun mode, and a Bond 'versus the world' mode. One player is Bond and everyone else is a guard if you're Bond you want to avoid other people at all costs while you find bombs around the map, and if you're a guard you need to find Bond and kill him.
If you're a diehard Bond fan you'll enjoy the game, but personally it just doesn't do it for me, another thing you need to make sure you do is see the movie first if you want to have any real idea of what's going on.
Summary: A good game, not one of my favorites and certainly is not 'Goldeneye'.

- 18/05/09 I'm not too sure if I'd call Treyarch "reputable"... |
