Advantages: Awesome Gameplay.

Disadvantages: Needs a better online mode.

I consider myself someone that loves video games and although I havent had enoug time over the last few years to play many I have loved best sellers like call of duty, resident evil, football manager etc. However recently I began to think more about racing games especially as I love formula one and I realised that I hadnt purchased a proper racing game in years. By proper I mean not something like GTA where racing is incorporated.

I use Gamespot to check game reviews out and found that Burnout Paradise was very highly rated, and without looking much further into the details I went out and purchased this game. I have to admit at first I was not that impressed, but over time I have found this to be an awesome game.

The last racing game I proper played was Gran Turismo on the PS1 so this was quite a change. Instead of set races, now I was in an open world environment like GTA, except without the people on the streets. You can drive your car about and do what you want, which is good fun and of course it is called burnout as you can use your turbo to reach newer speeds and burnout. At top speeds when you find a ramp there is a huge adrenaline rush trying to do something awesome with the car.

Unlike Gran Turismo it is much different to start races as this is an open world environment. You can start races by approaching any set of traffic lights and can command the game to start a race from there, which is different. Like I said before I didnt like this at first, but in actual fact it is a much more modern and cooler way of playing racing games, as you can just browse the streets and expore when you want and compete and race at other times, so no complaints here.

Also their is the option to use motorbikes, although without turbo, and they can go pretty fast and make a change. The only problems I have with the game are small, but consist of their being no speedometer, as I love to see how fast I am going, and maybe there is a option to include this, I really don't know.

Also in the online mode you are in the open world envrinment with other online players, but you have to track them down and then set up a race, it really it a long winded process, which older racing games handled muh more simply.

You can get better and also purchase new and better cars, including classics like formula one cars and many other vehicles. As you get better your license upgrades and the competition becomes hottter. Overall this is a top racing games and a few personal adjustments would have made this the perfect game for me.

Summary: A very very good game.
