Fits perfectly into the COD MW franchise

Activision are the developers at the moment for me now. This is the third of the Modern Warfare (non world war 2) Call of duty games that I have played now and as usual I loved it. Perversly I started by playing Modern warfare 2, arguably the best of the series in lieu of my being able to play Modern warfare 3 yet. I then played black ops and if you see my review of that you`ll see I was quite a fan.

I bought this game about a month ago and for me I got through it quickly, as a recreational gamer. Anyway in this game you play Sgt Soap McTavish (who in modern warfare 2 is a captain leading you on missions as the new guy). He joins the famous SAS mission and after a quick test in hereford you are on a helicopter to a ship in the north atlantic under the command of capt price, who again rears his head in Modern warfare 2. So plenty of familiar characters here. As always the other half of the game is played not so much as a special forces operative but as part of Marine force recon as Sgt Paul Jackson.

The storyline is great as always. The story revolves around a russian dissident ultranationalist Zakhaev who purchases nuclear materials after the chernobyl disaster in the Ukraine. Zakhaev uses a middle eastern coup as a proxy distraction drawing the western powers attention to Khalid Al-Asad`s complete revolutionary take over of a middle eastern country, in one slightly disturbing mission you actually play the president who is executed. AL-Asad lets off a nuke in his own city unfortunately killing sgt Jackson, meanwhile the SAS track him down in central Asia, where you realise that he isnt the bloke pulling the strings. The next couple of missions go back in time 15 years and capt price, a a leutenant, sneaks past a massive ultra-nationalist force in Pripayat, Ukraine to snipe Zakhaev. Unfortunately you just blow his own off and so continues one of my favourite missions in the game, having to fight your way out of he city and holding an extraction point , whilst the chopper takes it time to come and get you. Then switch back to modern day you take part in an SAS / Marine force recon set of 4 missions to break into an old soviet nuclear silo to stop zakhaev`s already launched missiles.

This game takes place all over Russia, central asia and the middle east. The usual array of weapons are available. The graphics and rendering are fantastic, hard to think this game was released in 2007. The soundtrack is great and the gameplay is pretty much flawless, only once did I actually get trapped behind a tank as I obviously shouldnt have walked there and the programming couldnt handle it.

This game is very cinematic and will have you biting your nails to cope with the pressure and adventure.

      Brilliant game - worth playing.

This game is without a doubt, one of the best games ever made and it created a whole new era for video games. Designed by Infinity Ward, this is the 4th game in the Call of Duty franchise.

It is set slightly in the future, which separated it from both the original Call of Duty games which focused on World War 2 and most other games available at the time. It is a first person shooter.

In the single player campaign you play as either soldiers from the SAS or the US Marines and take on a variety of missions all around the world, all with cinematic style loading screens which help to move the story along. The campaign is great fun and you get to use a variety of different weapons to shoot your way through the game.

The multiplayer is amazing and addictive. As you play you rank up and unlock new weapons, attachments and perks. There are countless different challenges as well, including getting a certain number of headshots to unlock different camos for your gun which helps add to the fun. Also, you can see your stats which include your score, win/loss ratio, kill/death ratio and accuracy and see how you compare with the rest of the world. You can also create parties and play with your friends in either online matches or set up your own private match where you make the rules.

The Game of the Year edition includes the free map pack - otherwise £7.99. This includes four additional multiplayer maps.

This game is simply ground breaking and provides hours of fun. The campaign is definitely replayable several times over and the multiplayer is very addictive.

This game, in my opinion, is the best in the series due to its relative simplicity and stunning graphics, something I feel that the other games could not match up to.

I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys first person shooters, those interested in warfare and those who have never played the game but enjoy others in the series.

      well worth the money

Yet another success for the creators of the Call of Duty series which is arguably the best series available for gamers and this version you'll all be glad to hear does not disappoint!!!

This game was the first in the new idea from the creators of COD to steer away from WW2 and of course following up with the current Modern Warfare 2 and the upcoming Black ops (I can't wait). I felt this was a great move as, I'm sure we all loved the battles in the old games, but this was our 1st chance to experience a modern war and of course the new weapons.

To give you a brief overview, You fight as a US Marine and British special forces and travel the world taking out terrorists whether it be as part of attack force, an elite SAS regiment or deep in enemy territory as a sniper.

The storyline as always is exciting and keeps you on the end of your seat and desperate to complete your current level to see what happens next. You are taken to various locations whether it be in the middle of the sea on a large ship, to fighting in the middle east and dodging large units of the enemy in a nuclear devastated Russian city.

The graphics and game play are second to none and just shows how hard the guys that create call of duty work as they manage this year after year!

If I had to look for a negative point, the first would be that as always with COD games, they are just so addictive that you can complete the main story in one sitting, after that you can play again but have heads up on what may have been a surprise on your first play.

However, to combat the above negative point, the online gaming sessions are great and allow you put your fighting skills to the test against other fans around the world. I personnaly always enjoy the team death matches. Well worth a go if you can connect to PS3 online!

To sum up a worthy addition to your PS3 collection and not a bank breaker now as many stores have available for under £10.

As the box says "game of the year" enough said.
