Advantages: Everything, online mode is unbelievable, game has a unique atmosphere.
Disadvantages: Single player could be longer.
I could just say that this is the greatest Playstation 3 game available and the best game ever created - go and buy it now and that would be enough.
But i shall try to describe how and why this game is the best gaming experience currently available on all formats.
The single player campaing revolves around campaigns involving both the English SAS and the US Marines. There are many levels to complete, each with a very distinctive and unique atmosphere that can actually convince you at times that it isnt a game.
I have played the game alone with the lights off and you get so involved in the game that you forget your surroundings and that it is not real. For example when a flash grenade is thrown, the screen goes bright white and makes a very very high pitch noise which combined actually disorientates you temporarily and i dont mean your in game chracter, i mean it actually physically stops you. Very clever stuff.
The bullets feel like they are flying over your shoulders and through your hair thanks to the excellent sound and the perfect visuals make a fantasticly terrifying, realistic looking war experience.
One level in particular where you are in an aircraft at night, usins heat detecting cameras is absolutely superb, as is a sniper level where you have to use stealth and any false moves result in near certain death.
The only criticism i have of the single player campaign is that its all over too soon.
A nice touch when you die in game, is famous quotes to do with war environments appear on the screen.
However the single player campaign is just a tiny feature compared to the games absolutely perfect online mode.
You can take part in many, many different game modes from free for all deathmatches to team tactical games. With each game you earn experience points based on how you perform in that level. At certain levels your rank changes based on your XP (there are 55 ranks in total) I have had the game for many months and have reached level 40. As well as improving in ranks, you unlock weaponary and have challenges to complete in game online such as 100 headshots etc etc.
The online mode is never ending as it is pure perfection in gaming and you will NEVER get bored of it, i guarantee it. In fact, you will lose a significant portion of each week to this. Especially when some of your friends also have the game and you can link up and play with them online against each other or on the same team.
Absolute gaming perfection.
