Probably the greatest game of all time......so far (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3))

Advantages: massive online addicitiveness

Disadvantages: campaign not long enough if im being picky

The postman arrived, i knew what was coming, i ripped open the cardboard, opened the cover and slammed the cd in ps3 and began! this is what the call of duty series has done to me and this, the 6th installment, did not dissapoint one bit!!

Graphics

The graphics for this game are out of this world, from knocking over plantpots in greenhouses to destroying cars and planes, every detail is put into every single thing possible, and it looks as real as ever. The game utilizes the in-house IW 4.0 game engine, which is claimed to be a generation beyond the capabilities of the engine used in Call of Duty 4. The new engine will then accommodate larger worlds and areas, with enhanced graphic detail, and more efficient rendering. And it looks superb!

Audio

Kevin McKidd, Craig Fairbrass, Barry Pepper, Bill Murray, Keith David, Glenn Morshower, 50 Cent, and Ken Lally are just some of the names who provide audio for the game. Again it is superbly done and adds to the excitement, when you hear foreign voices of anger and despair it gets your pulse going and gets you more involved with what is going on around you. The music is also very well done and every now and then will add to the suspense and possibly make you jump!

Gameplay

Campaign

This is basically carrying on from Modern Warfare 1, with soap mactavish leading the way along a story based theme putting you in different situations as you look to infiltrate different terrorists. Mission settings in the game include Russia, a military base in Kazakhstan, a desert area in Afghanistan, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A lot of this centers on a Russian invasion of the United States in the Greater Washington D.C. area, this includes the 3rd level where you basically go crazy in an airport killing as many civilians as possibly, not ideal in this day and age and has recieved a lot of complaints and critisicm already.

Special Ops

These are missions that will take place in a variety of locations from the previously discussed campaign mode, but are not related to story of the campaign itself. The Special Ops mode may be played alone, but supports two player cooperative play if you fancy playing split screen with your mate or online. Scenarios for this include a snowmobile race between the two players, one of you providing air support from an AC-130 with the other player conducting operations on the ground, capturing an enemy compound, and searching areas for and eliminating 40 or more enemies at a single time. Infinity Ward have said that the total number of stars is 69, meaning that there are 23 missions in total as you can earn up to 3 stars on one particular mission depending on how well you do or what level you set it at.

Online

For me the best part of the game. Its so addictive im sure there must be groups out there to help people stop playing it!! With game modes like Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Capture The Flag, you can have hours of fun just on one particular mode before moving onto another and finding 3 hours have passed you by in seconds! Apart from the obvious new weapons, equipment, and perks that you can now get, there are 15 different kill streak rewards that can be unlocked and selected by the player. This gives you the option to be more confident and select up to a 25 kill streak or if your more of a beginner select 2,3 and 4 kill streaks however not getting a great reward as the maximum 25 kill streak, im sure not many will manage 25 kill streaks regularly anyway!
Another new featurewhich i like is the in-game host migration. Basically, if a match host leaves the game, the current game no longer ends like it did in previous versions, as a 'host migration delay' allows a new host to be selected and the game to continue on with a short count down before battle re-commences.

SMG's

H&K MP7a1

A new SMG that gives you high penetration, with lower recoil

Kriss Super v
Possible Attachments: red dot sight, silencer, round drum
A new designed SMG that has the respected powerful .45 caliber and also designed to have low recoil
It only has a 13 round magazine, which is the main problem.

FN 2000
An SMG that is chambered with 5.56 nato rounds and packs a lot of punch for an SMG

AK-104
Possible Attchments: red dot sight, silencer, Acog
A much Compact version of An AK-47 and packs a lot of power for its smaller size

SHOTGUNS:

AA 12 Full auto shotty
Possible attachments : round Drum
They have made a full auto shotty that has almost zero recoil and it has a 20 round drum mag, and they have made different rounds for the shotgun: Normal Shotgun rounds, High explosive shells, Frag Shells, etc.
Basically it's a shotgun-Launcher

SNIPERS:

M110 Sniper
Possible Attachments: custom scopes, silencers, bipods
A new breakthrough in Sniper Rifles as it has semi auto capability, which will help you kill more enemies in a given amount of time than a bolt action rifle can do. Also has range and Power Similar to the R700, so it beats most bolt action snipers and can also be fitted with a silencer for stealth sniping

HANDGUNS:

Springfield Armory XD
Possible Attachments: laser sight, silencer
A new Handgun designed by Springfield Armory. Very durable, Accurate, and designed to be used at xtreme conditions

Baby Desert Eagle
Possible Attachments: red dot sight, visible lasers
A compact desert Eagle. Packs a lot of punch, with recoil much lower than the original Desert Eagle Handcannon.

FN Five Seven
A Handgun that give's you penetration a normal handgun can't do

MACHINE GUNS

LWRC Automatic Rifle
Possible Attachments: silencer, drum mags, noobtube, optics
A new machinegun/ assault rifle and can be silenced, attached with different sights, and even a noobtube. A machinegun with a noobtube, that's gonna hurt!!!

RPK
Possible Attachments: Ammo Drum (belt Feed), red dot sight
Basically much better than an RPD

HK 23e machine gun
Possible attachments: red dot sight, Ammo drum. An easy to carry machine gun


Overall as ive previously said this is probably the greatest game ever made. I cant get enough of it so im gonna finish my review here and get back on it!!

Summary: a superb follow up and will be playing this for years to come.
