Advantages: Great support by Treyarch have ment a constant expansion of the multiplayer side

Disadvantages: You sometimes are unable to connect to a zombie game even though it says 6,000 people are playing it

Call of Duty: World at War or COD5 as it is better known is another game in the popular Call of Duty franchise which first appeared in 2003 on the PC. COD5 was developed by Treyarch and took a different step to Modern Warfare by going back to the World War Two scene.

The actual game changes from mission to mission going between being Pvt Miller in the Pacific with the American Marines and Dimitri Petrenko with the Red Army as they move from Russia towards Germany and finally Berlin itself.

During the Campaign you will mostly be on foot but there is one mission with the Soviets in which you control a tank as well as a mission with the American's when you control various gun turrents on board a seaplane. The campaign is fairly long and if you decide to play it on Veteran difficulty you will be playing for hours and hours. The AI do what is known as "nade spamming". Simply meaning you will find areas where you are pinned down and your entire screen shows warning signs that you are surrounded by grenades. Heart of the Reich on Veteran will make you want to throw your controller at the screen, you have been warned!

What adds a huge replay value to the game is the multiplayer options. For starters it is possible to play the entire game with your friends co-op style. Or if you prefer a bit of competition you can play through the missions and you earn points for killing people or completing objectives.

On top of this there is the so called Zombie mode. This is by far my favourite part of multiplayer and what keeps me coming back over and over despite completing the main game months ago. You and 3 other people (either your friends or you can join a random game) are put into a ruined house covered with windows that are boarded up. Waves of zombies will come and break the boards off to get in and kill you. Your teammates are able to revive you should you die. The basic map that comes with the game is not too complicated but if you enjoy it I highly recommend the DLC maps. Each DLC has got better and better and added more skill to it. They introduced perks which give you special bonuses, traps to kill zombies with and with the latest installment the ability to upgrade your weapons as well. Sadly they don't come cheap at £7.99 but no one is forcing you to buy them.

Last but by no means least is the main multiplayer. This is your standard Team Deathmatch/Deathmatch/Capture the Flag/Sabotage (you have to plant a bomb on something)/Headquarters (you have to control an area and when you get killed you don't respawn until next round)/Domination (you fight to control points on the map and the more you control the more points you earn) and finally War in which there are 5 flags which have to be captured in order by a team (and the other team can capture them back) to win. There are a large number of maps and if you buy all the DLC you will get 9 more. If you enjoy the multiplayer I highly recommend the 2nd MP as the multiplayer maps that come with it are in my opinion the best of all of them.

Summary: If you enjoy FPS you won't be dissappointed. Especially with online play.
