Ok but not the best in the series (Call of Duty: World at War (PS3))

Advantages: good online action

Disadvantages: maps and guns arent up to scratch

I was so addicted to cod 4 that i wasnt too excited by 5 as 4 was so good i didnt think it could be beaten, so far i'm right, although 6 is out in a few weeks.
The single player mode is ok, there is also the option for a co-op mode s you and a friend sat next to you can take on the different scenes thrown at you. For me it wasnt long enough and can be completed in a week or so if you put in the hours, but cod is aimed at online play these days.
The maps are ok, not as good as 4, with different settings such as in the water, in trenchs, in huge fields, in tight indoor rooms, large buldings with corriders for close comabtive action, or stay high to snipe people in the distance.
There are also tanks for you to get into on some maps, where you can drive and fire rockets or man the machine gun and fire rapidly at passers by.
When you reach 7 kills this time you can release the dogs which go on the hunt and kill enemies for you, but they can also be shot or knifed.
There are many guns you can get along the way when you reach certain levels, and theres the good old option "prestige" where you restart after level 65, but get a new badge you can show off to online buddies.
There is now a new co-op online mode called nazi zombies in which zombies come after you and you work together to fend them off as they come in mass force after you!
There is also downloadable content in the playstation store, these are basically new maps, bit of a rip off at 7.99 per pack but thats up to you if you are willing to pay.
Many of the perks are there for you to choose from aswell and you get to choose from more the higher level you get, these include "sleight of hand", "double tap" juggernaught" and "quick revive". You cant choose all at once from the huge list but pick carefully for each type of game you can play online, these are the likes of:
Free for all - basically you against the rest
Capture the flag - put into 2 teams, try and capture the oppostions flag and return it to your base
Search and Destroy - one team has a bomb, one team defends a base, you either try and plant the bomb at the base or you defend your base depending on which team your on.
There are many more types of games to choose from.

Overall this is not as good as call of duty 4 but is still worth playing if you havent played the cod series before.

Summary: decent game and is worth playing i suppose
