After searching the internet I found very positive reviews of the first game in the series and after having downloaded and completing the demo of the game I decided to go ahead and purchase it. The game is a first person horror and you play as a character named Ethan Thomas who after hard times in the first game appears to be an alcoholic who is battling demons; both real and imaginary. The horror aspect plays throughout as the game is relatively dark and for full experience should be played late at night - the nature of this throws you pretty much straight into the action and you remain in it throughout only taking breaks to view cutscenes that ... >> Plot Summary: You play as Ethan Thomas, a former recruit of the FBI's Serial Crime Unit (SCU). Ethan resigned from the SCU after the events of the first game, and has entered a downward spiral of violence and alcoholism. He is called back into the SCU to help investigate the murder of his old mentor Malcolm Vanhorn. It's not often a game comes along that can have you jumping in fright at shadows, dripping sweat at eerie Manikins or wishing the sun would stay down just one more hour so you can keep yourself immersed in this deeply engrossing and disturbing game. It's a fast paced 1st person shooter which forces you to use your head, and whatever else is at hand to beat your way through forensic based puzzles and enemies heads. From the start, your drawn into Ethan Thomas's twisted world and you have to play against your sanity and the madness taking over the city to see you through to the end. Using everything from iron poles, bricks and even acquired medieval battle axes ... Read the complete review

The game picks up quickly, and being a wuss, i was scared almost immediately. Things as simple as turning around corners is now a big thing as you never know when something is going to pop out and scare you. The environments are very good, with many creepy things thrown into the mix to put you off. A particuly scary moment in the game was *spoiler* when i was walking forwards, with a mirror in front of me, and i saw a crazed man running at me from behind! *spoiler over!*. The cut scenes in the game are excellent to, and the voice acting and the characters facial expressions are fantastic. The combat system is excelent, you can punch using R1 and ...
