I first played Fallout with no understanding of what the game was about. I hadn't played either of the first two games, so the unusual format and features were completely new to me.
But from the start of the first mission, I loved the game. The gamer is really immersed into the game from the very start, as the environment is completely different to what we know in our world (and how we expect Washington DC to look!). We grow up with the vault-dweller, and eventually leave the fault with him and embark on the fantastic journey that is Fallout 3.
The shooting system is unusual, but takes little time to get used to. You would think that it would be too easy to kill someone with the ability to pause time and take aim, but this is not the case. When up against a Deathclaw, you'll fully realise and appreciate the VATS shooting system.
I'm sat here attempting to think of some problems with this game, but it is that difficult. One issue I found with the game (and probably the only one), is that some of the land is restricted by barriers. Washington DC is only accessible through the subways, which was slightly annoying when wanting to explore!
However, on the whole this is an amazing game, and one of the best so far for the PS3. Some fantastic features make this an unmissable game!
Fallout 3 is a role-playing game set after a nuclear war has devastated the world, leaving the land scorched to cinders, turning animals into fearsome creatures, humans into ghouls (or even super mutants) and sending the remaining survivors into a dark age where survival is the main goal. Fallout 3 is set in the area surrounding Washington D.C.
The story follows a character of your own creating (Name, looks, personality and skills) who is born in a vault (an underground living quarters designed before the war to protect those who paid to live there). As the story unfolds, you find yourself breaking out of the vault and experiencing life in the Capital Wasteland.
Fallout 3 gives the player a huge amount of freedom due to the amount of variables within the game. You can be a nice person, or evil, you have chances to join different alliances and groups, and since it is a game based on levels (ie you gain experience), you can choose where you prefer to be more skillful (Ie hacking computers or picking locks) and also some traits that allow you to do more unique actions. Even the amount of options when interacting with people in the game is staggering.
As a suggestion, I would take the game as slowly as you can. If you simply follow the main storyline, you complete the game pretty quickly. However if you take it slowly, discover new places and do all the side quests, the game lasts much longer and is, in my opinion, much more entertaining.
Negative notes on the game are few, and mainly an annoyance and little more. For example there are some issues with the movement of other characters, for example people following you can get stuck running into a wall.
All in all, a brilliant game, and I can't wait for the next one to come out! (Also if you have the correct game version, there are expansion packs available on the Playstation network to extend your play time)
Fallout 3 is set in the post apocalypse world ruined by the devastating nuclear war. You play as the Lone Wanderer from one of the Vaults designed to protect civilians from the war. Although land is deserted and sparse and populated with strange creatures but there is still alot going on in Fallout.
The controls are easy to learn and the general gameplay is very good. My only negative is the shooting becomes repetitive, too easy and boring. Being a RPG you level up your character and this is part of the fun of the game, you mould your character to whatever vision you desire.
This is an incredible world that has tremendous amounts of back story that shows as you play the game, there is also a large amount of wit in the game with many funny character and moments.
The game of the year edition includes the DLC that was previously sold separately, this opens up more possibilities and opportunities for the player.
Fallout 3 is RPG video game for PS3, PC and Xbox. It's an open-world role-playing game that delivers an experience that no other game developers have ever managed to provide before. It's a addictive and expansive game with depth and excitement packed into one video game. It was developed by Bethesda, the people responsible for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. You don't need to play any of their past games or any previous Fallout games to enjoy this one, because this one is completely out of this world, there is no game that comes close to how good this is! COD is simply dog doo doo on the underside of Fallout 3s shoes.
Fallout is the sci-fi world of tomorrow but with an old fashioned finish to it. Its filled with atomic cars, robot servants, and incredibly basic computer terminals. A nuclear war has taken away most of these technological comforts, providing the backdrop for a game with a dreary, desperate atmosphere filled with glib and dark humor. It's a world that is both fantastic and somehow believable. And it is one that's exciting to explore.
The game of the year edition provides all of the downloadable content which was released in 2009-2010. This is better then buying the original Fallout 3 and downloadable content on the Play station store, as it saves memory on the PS3. This game is one of a kind which provides something new every time you play and the only game which will out do this one will be the next in the series Fallout New Vegas! This is a must buy!
