Advantages: Setting and story are compelling throughout

Disadvantages: Gunplay can feel clunky at times

Fallout 3 is from the creators of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. It uses the same sort of game play style but in a completely new setting. You are a member of vault 101, shielded in a self contained community from nuclear war. No is supposed to leave the vault, but when your father suddenly disappears you leave the vault in search of him. The setting is so unique in Fallout, no other game comes close to it's amazing rendering of post nuclear war. The overall art direction of the game is superb, the crumbling ruins of the capital wasteland (Washington DC) are eerily magnificent.

The game play is a mixture of Role Playing Game and First Person Shooter. You earn experience points and level up by killing enemies, completing quests and interacting with other characters. Which each new level you get to pick a new perk which can increase the resilience of your character or just have a fun outcome. The perk system is one of the most entertaining aspects of the game as some have hilarious consequences.

The only downsides to Fallout are that the shooting game play are not as intuitive as say call of duty and it can feel a bit clunky at times. However, you shouldn't be playing Fallout for the shooting, it is the amazing story and environment that will draw you in.

Summary: A unique RPG that is worth a play through, if not two
