Advantages: Great gameplay and graphics
Disadvantages: None in particular
I have always been a huge fan of Pro Evo and in many ways I still am, but due to all my mates having converted to the dark side that is Fifa, I thought it would be best if I purchased this game as well so I could them give them a good old school beating whenever we played Fifa. Hence this review is about my experience and a few comparisons with Pro Evo 09.
The first thing I realized is how polished the menus are. I know EA sports seem to always take pride in their menus, and the problem they used to have is that they made the game look amazing, but the playability was lacking. In recent years they have turned it around and it is good they have still kept the cool menus and music.
Their are now two main different modes of play. Normal team mode that has been around since the beginning and also Be A Pro mode which I will go into a bit later. So everyone knows how the team mode works right. For those of you that don't basically you control the whole team, and namely the player that is on the ball at the time. The playability is awesome and very realistic with year upon year there being more control over the players. Of course some teams are better than others, and other players are simply amazing. People like Kaka and Ronaldo are a joy to dribble with.
Now Be A Pro mode was introduced in the previous version. Here you only control a specific player that you choose. It can be any player you want and you then get marked on your performance in that position. It can be challenging and fun but requires a lot of patience as you don't get a lot of time on the ball, so I tend to stray from this mode of play.
The celebrations are great, with the option to control your own celebrations now. On online mode this is awesome as the best and most annoying celebration is the robot. So just do the robot when you score and with it being a long routine it must annoy the opponnent like mad. It just adds that bit of insult to injury.
As just mentioned above there is an online mode, which is pretty good and EA Sports always has solid servers, so the gameplay is smooth and you can play opponents from literally anywhere and in many different modes and style. It is great to try and improve your ranking and just generally improve you game playing against different people.
Overall this is a great game, and is better than Pro this year, but I just struggle to see where these football games can go in the future, unless it can be made more interactive with some sort of feature using the Wii Style remotes, but that will lose its control over the team. It really is something that I am interested to see in the future and see these football games push on to the next level.
Summary: How can it improve?
