This was the first game I got when I was lucky enough to get a PlayStation 3. I had the choice of a free game, along with the console as part of a bundle offer. This one appealed to me out the choice on offer.
I had never played a Fifa title before, or any other full football based games from any provider. I think I'd played a free demo of a PES football game on my PC, but that was pretty much it. I wasn't really a football player when it came to gaming. I'd also never played a PlayStation 3 game and until I bought a few more games, this was all that I had to play. The first time I switched it on I thought the graphics were amazing, so I knew I was in for a treat.
It took me a while to get used to playing, but that was because I had never played on the console before or played a football based game before. However after a few goes, I found it was easy to play and actually somewhat enjoyable. In comparison to the demo I played on the PC, this was much more better, ten times at least. The game was more enjoyable, realistic and the graphics happened to be amazing. Performance was not an issue , it was easy and the game did not lag or take too long to load. If memory severs an action replay would appear whenever your scored a goal or completed an activity during a training session, and I found that quite good. Those on some occasions it was for some silly little things that would not be seen as quite so remarkable in reality. But saying that if you were starting out in reality, you probably would be happy when your achieved something for the first time.
I didn't get to play "online" straight away due to some networking issues with setting up the console when I first got it. But when I did, I found it was alight, but could have offered some more choices. For example in order to play a online match, you had to add at least one friend, rather than the game having a lobby for example (some games like Call of Duty have lobbies), where you could go and simply click "Play match etc" and then go off and play a match. Not very useful if you are new. Plus how are you to meet friends on the PlayStation network, if you can't play with people. Granted the option should still remain, so you can play with your work mates, family or friends, but the option for online play in a lobby should be there too, so that you can progress through the game without being victimised for not having any friends.
All in all, not a bad little game and very good for football fans.
The Fifa series of games has got to be one the most successful in the history of the gaming world. Each year EA come up with a new game and I have to say they just get better and better!
They continually come up with new concepts and new ideas that make the playing the "Beautiful Game" an absolute joy. Fifa 2010 has something for everyone whether you enjoy playing a quick exhibition match, a full season where you are manager of the team as well as playing, the online sessions where you put your skills to test against all the other Fifa fans, are you as good as you think?
In my opinion the best part of the game is the online sessions. The ranked games, I find, are the most competitive as you get matched to player with a similar skill level to yourself, both players then get to pick their team, choice of strip, management decisons (Formation, starting 11 etc) and then the game takes you to kickoff. I have had many games going to the full 90 minutes at deadlock and again no winner at the end of time (never at 0-0 though, always seems to high scoring games) and the tie has to settled by the nerve wracking penalties.
If had to pick a negative side to the games online, on the odd occasion you can come across a few sore losers who will quit befoe the game ends, however, they are few and far between.
There is also a version where you can play as one player in the team of your choice, you can make yourself the next Wayne Rooney or perhaps Ronaldo, the choice is yours. This is good but can become boring compared to the main game, a nice change though.
In regard to comparing it to the other football games out there, the only real competitor is PES. However I am Fifa through and through and can say that Fifa wins that battle of these 2 footballing giants hands down.
As the game has been out now since late 2009 it is coming to the end of it's life and Fifa 2011 is just about with us, however if you want to try this version you should be able to grab yourself a bargain from Ebay or I see amazon have it availabe for £17.99
Well done EA, keep up the good work!!!
This is a truly amazing game. It plays like an actual game of football, the ref like in real life makes mistakes and the picture quality is second to none.
The online function is amazing with the opportunity to play head to head with a stranger or friend, you can play in a team against another team and can work to improve your online rating and advance levels (which trust me becomes very addictive).
The manager mode is very addictive and is something I still enjoy playing nearly a year on despite playing it basically non stop when the game came out. Be a pro is also enjoyable.
The thing I like about it is that they have an option for a quick match which requires very little set up and you can be playing against the computer or a friend in less than a minute.
This is an amazing game and I can not wait for Fifa 11, RECOMMENDED TO ALL.
First of all, I think it is important to establish that I used to be a PES man. In fact, I hated Fifa and hated how much everyone rated it as a better football game than PES.
But now, I am one of those people..
I played the demo of both games around a year ago, and tried so hard to enjoy PES more than Fifa. But this year, EA Sports have really created a fantastic football game. In the previous versions of Fifa (excluding '97 for the Sega), there has been nothing realistic about the way the game allows you to play football. EA have always focused on the graphics and 'new-features' (So many times I heard "But Fifa has real kits and team names). This doesn't make a game, performance does. And this year, EA have really created a true football simulation, and actually feels better than the gameplay that PES offered.
I just hope they keep it up, and don't go back to their old ways.
Since 2008, i've stuck with the FIFA series rather than the Pro Evolution Soccer series, despite the few years before having fifa 2008 i played PES.
From Fifa 07 to Fifa 08, the game improved vastly but since then it has kept improving and Fifa 10 is probably the best football game of all time in my opinion.
The grahpics are great, especially if you use a HDTV with the HDMI cable. It looks very realistic and the players are a perfect match for themselves in real life. Even the boots are realisitic such as adidas and nike and they wear the same ones as the players do.
I'll start with the single player. You can have make your own leagues and cups tournaments and play them on all different kinds of difficulties- ranging from amaeteur to Legendary (or world class, one of them is the highest). However, i always feel on football games that playing the single player can get really boring after a while as the same things happen over and over again, even if you play on harder difficulties.
The online is what makes FIFA 10 the best football game. For online ranked matches, there are levels. When you win, you increase your points until you reach the next level, or if you lose you decrease them. You can go up a level or drop a level depending how many points you got. Now you may think this is more or less like playing a league and quite boring, but here is the reason for the levels: when you search for a ranked game, you will be playing against someone in the same level as you, meaning the games are more competitive and un-predictable which is the whole fun in playing mulitplayer games.
Another thing i like about the gameplay is the wather conditions. When it is sunny and dry conditions then the ball just acts normal etc. However, when it rains and is soaking wet, the ball bounces further away from you and you have to time the long ball better which is great as it fells much more realisitic.
The only problem really is the commentary which is like most other Fifa games to be honest. It's really repetitive only after playing 2-3 games! It's good in a way that they use real commentators such as Andy Gray and Martyn Tyler from Sky Sports but that doesn't stop it from repeating itself.
Apart from the commentary, this game is the complete football game! It is visually stunning and the gameplay is great. The online mode is the best yet on any football game due to the ranked levels making it more competitive.
I bought it October last year on the day of release like any other football game. I payed i think £40 and i'm still playing and will be right until FIFA 11 comes out. This is one of those games that if your a fan of football you simply shouldn't get bored of if you are playing it online!
Definately reccomened for any football fan out there.
In my opinion the fifa series has been one of the greatest games ever to be released on a gaming system. Every season a new one is released and it has been doing this for many many seasons now.
When just released you will be looking at paying around £40 for the game but if you wait even a couple of months I think you will be able to find it for £10 or maybe even £15 less which is obviously a significant saving in pricing.
In my opinion the gameplay has increased significantly in the past few years and it only gets better. There was a time when it was rivaled by PES but it has since shown why it is the best and most popular football game available.
With every progressive game released fifa becomes more realistic and you feel more and more that you are in the game. Also I think Fifa 10 is sensational in the way all of the players look very realistic to how they actually look in real life.
Overall I think that Fifa 10 has yet again risen the bar on how good a footballing game can actually be. I do not think you need me to tell you how popular the gaming franchise is but I thought I would just write a description on how good this game actually is. I would recommend anyone to purchase this over any other similar game out on the market today.
Fifa games are the best football games on the market by far and Fifa 10 is the newest addition. The other main football game that people buy is Pro Evolution Soccer, I have bought this game as well in the past and I definately prefer Fifa and went back to it straight away (I have never bought a Pro Evolution Soccer game since). First of all in the Fifa games all the teams have the current kit they're playing in which makes the game even more real, however in PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) they do not have the rights to use the actual teams kits or even names, so Manchester United are instead called The Red Team and play in a plain, simple, boring looking red kit. Because Fifa is the official football game all the kits, names of the teams and players are available, this is not the case in PES. Also, the playing style of PES and Fifa are vey different and I don't know anyone that likes both, you either like Fifa or you like PES. The controls are also different on both games, for example to shoot on Fifa you press circle on the PS3 controller but to shoot on PES you press the square. The fact is that once you play one of the games you get used to the controls and the playing style and the other game looks and feels less attractive. I would suggest playing both games and then deciding which game you like better. In Fifa 10 the latest kits of all teams are available and there are a huge range of teams that you can play, like turkish teams or brazilian teams and you can also play with countries. The range of teams that you can play with on Fifa is far more impressive than that of PES. On Fifa 10 there is an online mode which allows you to choose a team and play against an opponent from anywhere in the world, this allows you to show off your skill and beat real people online. There is also a new feature called Be A Pro which allows you to play as one player in one position, I personally don't really like Be A Pro but it may be for you!
It has been a rocky ride for the FIFA series. From dominating in the early years to being over taken by Pro Evolution Soccer before finally over the last few years being on top again. Although FIFA 10 is the best football game on the market it is far from perfect.
The gameplay is another step forward for the series, the introduction of 360 degree dribbling is a change that greatly enhances the play. But there still remains problems with the AI, poor decisions from the computer and it still feels too robotic when playing the AI.
The graphics have always been FIFA's leading line and this year is no different, a lot more work has been done on the lighting and it looks great.
The manager mode is flawed but still enjoyable and the online modes are good fun too. This is definitely the best football game there and despite flaws still captures the beautiful game.
This game is in my opinion a very good game. There is a lot to do including managing your team to glory in manager mode, (which is great because of the transfer market and it makes it harder for you to buy players) entering a lounge, playing an exhibition match or even entering and creating you own tournaments. The gameplay, graphics in my opinion are better than they have ever been for a fifa game. There is also a great new feature called virtual pro, in which, you can create a player and progress through the ranks from beginner to superstar and sign for big clubs. The sountrack in this game is a lot better because there is a bigger variety of music and popular artists.
I would rate this game:
In my opinion Fifa 10 would beat pro evolution soccer any time. This game is also great value for money.
The only downside to this game in my opinion is that it can become a bit boring after a while playing.
Although going to be going out of date soon this game is a great game for all the lads to have a good laugh on a night in. This is the 18th Title of the electronic arts football game. It just keeps getting better and better and every year and developers seem to be really under pressure trying to make a excellent game better. I have found previous fifa really easy to score and easy to win tournaments and stuff but this one is a real challenge.
Game play is different as there is now a manager mode allowing you to manage any club in the featured leagues. There has been some improvements in this mode as the previous game they took some critisim in this part of the game but all has been changed for the better. The things changed are as a mamanger you can now get all the news from around the world in mamanger mode allowing you to be able to see all transfers and fixtures and also results in foreign leagues. Also you can have a assistant manager which can set up a rotation based on your fixtures for example if you are playing a weaker team the assistant can rest the top players and also give the players on the bench a chance to show the boss what they have got. Also results are based really on the strength of your team so it is far more challenging.
There are 31 leauges in this game and it is very realistic game commentary is brilliant just got more challenging and more tough all round and tightened up those wee weakness from the previous game. This game is great for online playing aswell you can play your friends from all over the globe no matter were they are. Also I usually have a boys night in playing fifa few beers and play multiplayer and it is just the best crack ever.
I love this game and you can now buy it for under twenty pound now I give it four stars a great football game and the characters all look like the actuall players so graphics are outstanding too even the stadiums and fans are just perfect its like the real setting of a football match even the atmosphere is better on big matches like champions league and stuff just to make it more intense.
Fifa 10 is the ultimate football experience, no doubt about it. It's a huge improvement to last years game, and a lot better than Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. A new feature to the Fifa games is 360 dribbling. In past Fifa games, you could only dribble in 8 directions, but in this game you can dribble in EVERY direction. Another feature is the Virtual Pro. The Virtual Pro is a game mode where you create your own footballer, assign him to a team, and edit his looks. You can even download your face to the game so you can put it on your Virtual Pro! After creating your Virtual Pro, you can start a game of Be A Pro: Seasons. Be A Pro is where you play as one player, it can be your Virtual Pro or real footballer, and control him throughout 4 seasons. Your goal is to evolve your player to the best you can, but be warned, it is frustrating on harder difficulty levels. The classic manager mode has been left untouched just about, except for the create your own tactics feature, where you can create your own set plays. Fifa 10 has all the best players from lots of different countries, like Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez. Plus they have all the best teams like Manchester Utd, Chelsea, AC Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Internazionale. So whether you're a hardcore football fan, or are just trying the game out, its a very good game to have in your collection.
The longest running football game makes a return to the top as EA's FIFA 2010 finally delivers an unbeatable and vastly improved football simulator that will keep you playing time and time again. The newest features include a bookfull of new tricks, manager mode, online club championship, become a pro which includes the choice of uploading your own game face and much much more. The game plays very well with players being very responsive to button presses, very sleek and smooth and with a choice of difficulties ranging from rookie to legendary you can be sure to find a level that suits you best. Choose from leagues including but not limited to English Prem, champ, league 1 and league 2, spanish leagues, german leagues and even internationals. You can create your own pro and take him on a journey from trainee in the reserves to full international starting out at clubs like notts county and ending up at manchester united earning vital experience points and many trophies along the way. The online mode can keep you entertained for hours with the choice of joining club championships, exhibitions, tournaments and even up to 20 players online with all players controlling one man each.
A must have game in the collection of all ps3 owners alike.
Every year EA delivers a new Fifa game with updated rosters and usually minute gameplay changes. There is always the question over whether the update is worth purchasing year after year. This years iteration boasts dribbling improvements and improved physics, but does it deliver a fresh experience.
Gameplay is the same old Fifa, nothing wrong with that and they have certainly tightened up a few things with very few annoying glitches that have been a problem in recent titles. That said i have encountered a few such as a defender not responding as the keeper passes to him, this situation can usually be saved just about but it is annoying nonetheless. 360 degree dribbling was perhaps the most anticipated feature in this years Fifa allowing the player to dribble in any direction using the analogue stick. This works reasonably well and makes bearing down on goal slightly easier as you are no longer confined to a certain number of paths.
Game modes here are again the usual. You can jump straight into a match with Play Now and choose from a large variety of leagues worldwide. Be a Pro mode allows you to control just one player during a match and both of these options can be experienced online, which is a pleasant experience only suffering from occasional lag. Manager Mode lets you take control of teams for a 15 year career and is the best way to enjoy Fifa long term. The mode is not perfect though as transfers, fatigue and game scheduling are handled fairly badly. Anyone looking for a managerial experience should stick to Football Manager.
The presentation of this game looks much like Fifa09 which is somewhat disappointing as the in game commentary is also a rehash of last year. Although the menus songs are good enough, I feel it is a disappointment that mroe effort was not put into the commentary.
This is the best football experience available on a console and football fans should definately purchase this as it has jumped ahead of Pro Evo on the football sim front.
FIFA had been the top dog in the football game industry but then Pro Evolution took off and took many customers away with its gameplay and graphics while EA Sports and FIFA stayed static. But with FIFA 10 it trumped all other competitors in all the key categories. It's new and improved game modes of Virtual-Pro and Manager mode have been able to keep players entertained and challenged unlike its older predecessors, online play has dramatically improved with people now able to specify who they would like to play with filters.
The game has called back last years add on Ultimate Team, this is where the player is able to create their version of the ultimate team while trying to make team and player chemistry high. Emphasis is placed on chemistry more than individual players as for the team to play well you need higher chemistry otherwise you will suffer at the hands of those with high chemistry. This mode has caused problems now as though it may be fun for a month or two it eventually loses it charm with more bugs such as the chemistry glitch and every other player having a great team causing the game to be dull. With people also buying illegal accounts from dhgate and ebay it also ruins the game causing the in game market to be distorted ruining it for all the other players.
To summarise, FIFA 10 itself is a great game with hours of enjoyment despite small bugs which all games have. The game ad on Ultimate Team is initially fun but has a short life span with many players as it loses its appeal very quickly for most people.
FIFA 10 is quite frankly a masterpiece in the world of video gaming. The game combines authenticity with a great match engine and flawless gameplay, with only a few tiny errors. The game itself provides hours and hours of play time, and that's just the manager mode, the online play and of course a classic game of FIFA with your mates provides yet more hours of footballing. All of this gaming is brought by EA to the highest standard of graphics, gameplay and authenticity. Graphically the game is beautiful to look at, passing is smooth to watch and the players, on the whole, are well likened to their real life counterparts. On the pitch, as with the passing, the game remains beautiful, the stadiums are designed and reproduced to perfection the only minor criticism I would have are the cardboard figures in the crowd, although this really doesn't affect the game or its deserving 5 star status. The gameplay is where the game leaps ahead of its footballing competitors. The new match engine built for FIFA 08 has come on leaps and bounds by FIFA 10, not forgetting that FIFA 09 was fantastic as well. In terms of real improvements for FIFA 10; the passing on the ground is sharper faster and the feel for the pass is nicely captured by the power meter for each pass. As well as this, the defense are no more perceptive of passing, pressing x doesn't necessarily mean keeping possession, you have to play smart. The major improvement of course is the 360 degree dribbling system, which leaves the game feeling smooth with players diving through spots that weren't there in FIFA 09, I can only hope that this new element stays and that it is built on an improved upon. Finally on the gameplay front, Arsenal play like Arsenal, Barca like Barca and Man U like Man U, each with their strengths passing etc and weaknesses, it's an incredible game, that deserves its high ratings. In terms of authenticity it's everything you'd expect from a FIFA game, the manager mode is much better with realistic transfers taking place and realistic teams winning the league, with a few magic shock moments in the cup. A final note is the square button. During gameplay, Gerrard can hit that 60 yard pass smack on target with Torres taking it down beautifully, the lobbed pass in FIFA is now a weapon, not a useless way of giving up the ball, now its deadly, and used correctly and result in spectacular goals and exciting finishes. FIFA gives you the total footballing experience, online is great and addictive, manager mode is superb and the be-a-pro single player mode is also a great innovation where you really can become the star.
