FIFA 11 (PS3)
Advantages: Lots of official teams and players, very realistic.
I love football games, and have been playing the Fifa series since Fifa 97, which seems really old fashioned now. I'd love to play it again, but I think my Megadrive was sold ages ago. This is not the most recent version of the Fifa series, because Fifa 12 has just been released. However, I want to review this one, which I've been playing for a year now before I buy the latest edition.
Basically, this is the same game as all the other Fifas, but it looks better, has more players and teams and loads of options to change the little details, such as to make your own team or players, or edit information about real players in the game. I don't think the gameplay has changed that much since perhaps four or five years ago, but there are some small things like the way the players show their strength in challenges, which is better now, and the goalkeepers are more intelligent and realistic than before.
I really like the fact that you can play as any team in the football league, from Arsenal and Manchester United to the likes of Barnet or Port Vale. This is a great feature in my opinion, and it's one which you don't have in games like Pro Evolution Soccer, which is the main rival of this series. Most of the players look really realistic, although there are some players who look a bit weird, especially in the lower leagues. Also, all the of the real kits are in the game, which makes it very believable to play.
There are also foreign leagues, like the Spanish La Liga with clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona, and these are also very detailed and realistic. There are also international teams and major competitions, so you can play the World Cup, European Championships etc.
Some of the extra features in this game icnlude personality plus, which makes the players play more like their real selves, and 360 dribbling, which gives you more control. Also, Fifa theatre lets you save goals and highlights from matches to watch again later.
There is also an Ultimate Team option that lets you play against your friends online, although I haven't used this, so I can't comment on whether it is effective or not.
Overall, I think this is the best football game you can buy, and also, it's only £12 online now because of the new game coming out. This is a bargain price if you want to pay less, because you'll get a great game even if it's not the latest - I can't wait for Fifa 12!
Summary: The best football game around.
