      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Worth a buy if you didn't purchase Fifa 12.

      It is getting to the point now with Fifa where the differences are so subtle in my eyes between each edition that it is getting more and more difficult to review without sounding like I am rehashing an old review but I will give my honest opinion rather than sucking up to a franchise like a lot of people do.

      Cover
      ~~~~~~~~~
      Messi dons the front cover here and he looks to be a regular every year now on Fifa. I remember the days when they used to have a new player every year on the cover and it was definitely something exciting to look forward to even though it is quite a small detail. The three previous editions so 2010-2012 have had Rooney on the cover, all be it on a couple of the editions with other footballers accompanying him. I do know however that in other countries they generally put different popular players from that region on.
      Gameplay
      ~~~~~~~~~~
      The big new difference here is first touch control and it really does take some getting used to. I remember the first few games I played when the ball would come towards my player and then I would try and control it which is normally very straightforward but the ball would veer away from my player straight to the opposition. However after a few games you do get used to it and you will notice the difference and big advantage you will have over opponents that are not used to this feature or simply not as skilful as you. I am not sure whether it really makes Fifa more entertaining but they have to do something to differentiate the game from others so clearly chose to use first touch. I think in the past the best differentials have been the 360 degrees ball control and the only time they have really shown a significant improvement between two editions.

      Online
      ~~~~~~~~~~~
      I play this game primarily for the online features and the excellent season mode that is contained. You look back to past editions where you played online and you weren't really playing for anything apart from ranking points. There was no tangible reward but in this edition there is a league system. You start off in the bottom league and play others in the same league as you and if you gain enough points from your 10 games in that league then you move up the editions. Of course when you first start you will most likely play players that you are better than, well I guess that's how it is with me but then I like to think of myself being something of a legend at Fifa. Of course once you reach the top division it really becomes back like the old style Fifa where there is nothing to accomplish apart from staying in the division.
      Improvements
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      So the online season mode is great however there are serious flaws with how online works. Unfortunately there have been many games I have played where the opponent has quit and the result has not been recorded. This can be unbelievably frustrating especially when you need those points for promotion and go on to lose your next game and avoid promotion all because it didn't record your previous victory. There was an occasion where three games in a row I was giving the opponent a beat down and each time the opponent quit and the result was not recorded. I hope they sort this out for future editions as it is a terrible flaw in the architecture and ruins the enjoyment that Fifa brings. They clearly have thought about this a little bit as there is an option you can select which ensures that when you search for a match that it won't find an opponent with a lower quit rate than yourself. This is a solution but a very poor one as they need to worry about the problem in hand. This solution stops you playing people that quit, but I don't mind people that quit. In fact a part of me loves frustrating an opponent so much with complete domination that they quit. The solution is simply to ensure that you receive the three points for this humiliation to the opponent.

      For game play I would suggest that they work more on the ball control when passing. There are times when you clearly press in the direction of one player and the game passes to a different player. There are very subtle differences and I am sure they can increase the accuracy. Also the penalty shoot outs have gone down in my eyes. They were a lot more enjoyable in the old editions of Fifa and Pro Evo where you just aim and shoot. Here having to choose the accuracy on the scale and then aim is very weird and I am not comfortable with it which is a viewed shared by many Fifa players. I can see what they were trying to do but it just a bad system and the penalty system either needs to go back to how it was before or needs a complete overhaul.

      Overall
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      So even with the online issues this is still a very enjoyable game. What I will say however is that in terms of game play there really is not a lot different to the last edition. I am glad that there is a next generation console coming out as they seem to have reached the limit with PS3 editions of Fifa. Maybe they have ran out of ideas which means that it won't be much different on the PS4 but I think having the extra specification that the console will bring should mean a big step up in terms of game play.
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      A great game to play on your own with friends.
      I have always bought the new Fifa game every time it comes out year on year without fail. Each year we see an improvement to game play and this year was no different, the ability to play free flowing attacking football is an absolute joy to behold. The improvement of your players in career mode is also super and much more realistic in my opinion. Sometimes I can find little gems in my youth team and in no time they have moved from 62 points to 72 in less than a season AND at the age of 16! This year is one where we can finally manage at international level which I have to say has been a long time waiting if not a little disappointing because you can only manage alongside your club team, but an improvement non the less. I also like the added feature of counter offers in transfer negotiations this also adds a more realistic feel to the game.
      Now down to a few gripes I have with the game. I did have to return mine on one occasion because it was sticking at the same point in my career mode and did this twice (once when I had £90 million in the bank for transfers aswell!!).The new game works fine generally though, however I would advise saving the game often as it can freeze if you've been playing all night!! If you're an avid online gamer then this is another area that need an improvement in Fifa14. My servers are regularly down and I often have to go back to the main screen to re-login to MyFifa.
      Overall though this game is definitely value for money and certainly takes up my time on a far too regular basis!!
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      Good game
      Fifa 13 is no disappointment. As a massive Fifa fan with the every Fifa back to 1999 I always look forward to getting my hands on the newest one. I believe the best aspect of this new Fifa has to be the Ultimate Team. The games play has also improved grateley such as other members on your team think more and make it easier to pass to them. I am not so keen on the pre match challenges and think these could have been improved. I also think that the menu should be simpler. Overall I think it is a certain buy for any football fan and that it is the best football game for a video game that is available on the market at the moment. I cannot wait to read about Fifa 14 and wonder what changes EA are going to do for that one. I would advise any one to get this game over other competitors in this category.
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      Very happy with the new game, has its downsides but still a great game.
      Once again with every year FIFA is still by far the best football game we've ever seen on the football gaming market and is proven again with this great new game.
      There are many features on this FIFA including the old modes, e.g. career mode, tournament mode and creating tournaments. There are also good new feature's like support your club and many different options inside the old game modes, like suttle changes to the career transfers. Another grat new feature of FIFA 13 is the loading screen games, it used to be just a player and a goalkeeper in a situation where you can have some free shots which got kind of repetitive and boring after a while, the new version of this gives you challenges to complete before every game, each challenge tests you skills in different areas, there are free kick challenges, shooting challenges, dribbling challenges and the famous crossbar challenge. I find these games much too addictive and sometimes sit there for half an hour playing a challenge :P
      One disadvantage of the new game is not much has changed in general. The gameplay is very much the same as its predecessor and the game modes that were there before generally are the same as before too, however i do not feel they really needed to change much to this game to make it a success even with the repetitive nature it's still by far the best football game out there and it wont stop people queuing up at midnight next year to get their copy :)
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      very good but not alot new here
      Introduction
      Fifa from ea sports has been the top dog in the football gaming world for the past few seasons and this year seems to be no different with record sales taking it to the top of the gaming chart. It has all the licences which mean there is the true authenticity with 30 leagues, 500 clubs and over 15,000 players. I have been a Fifa fan for a long time since Fifa 96. Although I have tried Pro Evolution soccer in the past, I have been back to Fifa for the past few years. So is it any different from the previous version and is it worth the purchase? Read on to find out.
      What's new?
      On the surface it is still the same game as last year with a few tweaks to gameplay. These include attacking intelligence which allows attackers to make more clever runs for example. Complete dribbling which is inspired by cover star Lionel Messi is another new feature. It allows you to use precise dribble touches which are also combined with true 360 degree mobility when in 1v1 situations especially. First touch control is another feature which means that there is more difficulty in controlling poor passes and overall there are fewer perfect touches. The player impact engine also allows for more physical play as defenders hustle for the ball. The tactical free kicks are also a new feature with up to 3 players around the ball. You can have dummy runs and passing options. There are also a number of new skill games at bronze, silver and gold level which aim to improve your fundamental fifa skills such as passing, shooting and dribbling.
      Game modes
      There are a number of different game modes both for online and offline play which are mostly the same as last year. These include career mode, be a pro , ultimate team and head to head seasons. The EAS FC mode allows you to enter challenges based on games in real life and earn points for your favourite club in the game. Ultimate team is one of the most favoured modes by many which allows you to create your own dream team starting from scratch with quite poor players and building up a team of world beaters as you look to improve both the overall skill level and chemistry of the team. You collect coins as you play and win games and use these to buy new players to improve your squad. It takes you back to the days of collecting football stickers as you try and get the top and rarer players. The head to head seasons mode gives you 10 games in a season and if you get above a certain amount of points you can get promoted. On the flip side if you do not get enough points you get relegated. Your aim is to work your way up from division 10 to 1. Every time a game is played points are earned, which can then be used to unlock rewards like kits, celebrations, and attribute boosts. Online play is good but server crashes and freezing are again issues.
      There is also a Playstation move mode which allows you to use motion sense technology to control what happens on the pitch. As I don't have a move controller I cannot comment on how good this mode actually is.
      Graphics/Sound
      There is the slick television or sky sports style visuals with the graphics similar to Fifa 12. Commentary is similar to previous versions with Martin Tyler and Alan smith. Geoff Shreeves also provides commentary on injuries as they happen on the pitch which is a new feature and the presentation is almost the same as what you get on television watching a live game.
      Conclusion
      There isn't a lot new in this game compared to the previous version. There are some minor tweaks but nothing entirely ground breaking. If you want the latest squads and rosters then you will have to buy the new version. The online features also give it an edge over Pro Evo. Overall I would give this game 4 out of 5 stars as although very good, it isn't that much different from Fifa 12.
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      It is an alright game
      Fifa 13 is a alright game, i have played Fifa 10 and Fifa 11 and Fifa 12 but Fifa 13 has new gaming plays like manager mode and Fifa ultimate team, which i think is the best online gaming play on Fifa 13 multi player, i have played Pes 13 but Fifa 13 is better in multi player and campaign
      The game in my opinion is an alright football game but has improved over the fifa 12 franchise which i think was a very good game, it is good value for money and i really do recommend it to other people if you are looking to purchase decent football game
      which can be enjoyed, i really like Fifa because of its gaming modes which is very fun to play, so you can know which game modes are suited to you, i like online modes better than campaign the game is very good
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      A must have for any football gaming fan.
      I have been playing football video games for as long as I can remember. After converting to PES in the late 90's, Fifa won back my allegiance in 2010. I eagerly anticipate the release of Fifa every year, but have to say I rarely notice much improvement and usually miss the previous title. Fifa 13 was different. It instantly felt better; the gameplay is slick, faster and more realistic - through balls and out pacing opponents being my favourite improvements. The new 'first touch' is great, with players of a higher skill controlling the ball more skilfully and the lower ability players knocking the ball out or even into the path of an attacker. There are more mistakes by goalkeepers too, which can be very annoying, but definitely more realistic.
      A few nice touches that don't affect the gameplay - When waiting for a game to begin in the arena, instead of just shooting 1 on 1, there are a number of skill challenges - from passing into bins, shooting at targets to dribbling around cones. There is also the option of unlocking retro kits and balls, as well as 'all star' teams.
