Advantages: Really life like and cheap

Disadvantages: Can be a bit frustrating at the start

When I purchased a Ps3 on it's release this was the game that came with it along with a demo. With me not playing the ps3 before I was just excited at playing any game on it. With me enjoying racing games though I was looking forward to playing on the Ps3 even more so.

Price

Even though I got this free in a bundle I have looked round for the price and found it to be around the £18 mark. To think that this would of set you back around £45 when buying seperately a couple of years ago means it is a good price now. For people who enjoy these types of games will love this one and it is extremelly life like which I loved about it.

Gameplay

What I really enjoyed about this game was how similar it was to watching it on the tv. You have the opportunity to go through a practice session on friday, qualify on saturday and then race on sunday. Like me you might think ' I dont need to practice ' I found though that i took every given chance to test the track out to the car. With it being so much harder to play than ever take any chance you get trust me.

Career Mode

Career mode for me was totally different to what I thought it would be. Normally you join a team go up the ranks and race for ferrari and win back to back titles. With this game however it is so much more difficult because even if you race a near perfect race you may not even be on the front two rows. When playing other version of Formula One games I never used to lose so this was a different feeling. When you start you do the basics like name, appearance and nationality. After this you will get an email from a team ( Before you get excited it won't be ferrari ). You then have to earn your seat and do the best you can. They will give you set targets and it is your job to reach them. Don't get me wrong you can get to the top but it really isn't easy and you find yourself pushing yourself extremelly hard.

In Race

Like previous versions you can drive with automatic and manual. I prefer driving with manual as I feel automatic just isn't worth playing with, if your going to play the game play it properly. When formula one games first come out you could just smash into cars and knock them off the track. In this version however a little nick off another car and you will damage your car. You can also actually see what is wrong with your car just by looking which I think is a brilliant feature to have. You need to be realistic also when you play because if you start from the back of the grid I guarantee you won't win. This game just doesn't allow you to take over car after car like previous version and for this it is brilliant.

Rewards

As I stated in the career mode, the better you do the more chance you have of getting a drive for one of the big teams. The chances are you will progress up and not just jump from bottom to top. Also once you win a race you will unlock that specific trophy so you can analyse how good you are on that specific track.

Overall

I really rate this game highly, with it being the first game I owned on ps3 I did play it a lot. If you purchase it you will probably find it will take you a while to get used to it because you can't just dramatically slow down when entering a corner. You have to really ease the car into the corner to go round it. If you don't do this then your going to go off and damage your car in the gravel. If you have never played this game before I really do recommend picking it up to play it before Formula One 2010 gets released. Brilliant game all round as far as i'm concerned.

Summary: Best formula one game to date.
