Are these sort of games dying out? (Guitar Hero 5 (PS3))

Advantages: Great fun with friends, some cracking songs

Disadvantages: Track list is too varied and new, career mode is far too brief

Guitar Hero 5 is a musical video game which involves 1-4 players playing either a guitar, bass, drum kit or singing. It is the 5th guitar hero game (excluding metallica, aerosmith, greatest hits and van halen), and comes with some new features. Unlike in previous guitar heros, in this one you can have any number of players playing the same instrument, eg. 4 guitarists or 4 drummers etc. There is also a game mode where players can drop in and out of the gameplay whenever they want.

I love musical genre games, but this one has rather left me down a bit. For starters, the song list is far too varied, with the majority of the songs being released in the last 5 years. I enjoy new music but i must say, the oldies are the best! To be fair there are some cracking old songs such as, "All along the watchtower", "superstition", "sultans of swing" and "dancing with myself" as well as a few more.

The second fault i think this game has is that the career mode is far too brief, and lacks the depth that rock band and rock band 2 have. They have introduced challenges in this game though which makes you able to get 8 stars on some songs, where as in older versions the max was 5. However, some of the challenges are near impossible, which makes the game rather frustrating.
