Advantages: days and days of rocking out
Disadvantages: not as many top tunes as you would think
What can i say about this game that probably hasnt already been said? Its so much fun that you easily forget what you had planned for the upcoming few days!
I purchased this lot and got myself a free bass guitar (can use gh3 guitar if you have it on the same format) and immediately rang round to get a band together and rock out. Within the space of half hour everyone was wanting to get on the drums and have a whack along to the 80+ songs you could play. Of course being the owner of the game, im first on the drums, make sure you shotgun it whenever you have people round to play!!
As i said previously, 80+ songs of ranging decades and tempo to pick from once you have unlocked them all, some of the popular ones include 'eye of the tiger', 'beat it', 'living on a prayer' and 'hotel california', plus you can create your own rocker and weapon of choice. Of course you dont need to purchase all the kit to play but thats what the game was designed for and im glad i spent extra and got the whole thing on board.
Other features include battle of the bands online play, single guitar and drums mode (where you can practice before your other band members turn up) and you can also create your own song in the GH studio. There is one catch though, you cant lay down any lyrics, i would assune this would be because people would just swear to the cows come home and the only way activision could keep the 12 rating is to leave this off, never mind no ones wants to put their voice on a track anyway theyre that bad!
Anyway to sign off i cant really say too many bad things about this game, its so popular but there is a couple of niggly little things, nothing enough to knock a star off though...
- Some would say the songs could have been better, depends on your opinion really but half the songs played on here are not mainstream hits.
- In todays current climate the price for downloading the songs could be cheaper, considering how much you pay for the whole kit, i think it should be as if you were buying a track from itunes (79p) or cheaper
Summary: Get on board and live the dream
