I never played the first Killzone, but was keen to pick up the sequel from Amazon for £34.99. This first person shooter is rated 18 and can be played single player, or up to 32 players online. I must admit, I was excited to get this and play through it.
As first person shooters go, this looks fantastic. Very polished graphics and really shows what the PS3 is capable of. Even when playing by yourself, you are immersed by the awesome graphics. Plus adding to the realism is the super smart AI of the solider or soldiers that you are partnered with. The AI is important, if playing co-op with someone, you get to plan your moves. Whereas playing single player, it is important the PS3 controlled players actually help you on the quest without being obvious. In Killzone II they do this perfectly.
Even the enemy AI is very good, trying to take out your opponents, when they duck for cover and then return fire to try and pick you off, very convincing indeed.
The control method is nice too. With the usual button and directions controls feeling natural. You even use the six axis support for turning the control pad to turn valves and other objects.
There are plenty of different modes, the superb graphics, plus awesome 7.1 surround sound support. The game is presented very well and plays in such a way that you will keep coming back for more.
Kill Zone 2 is a fantastic game,If far exeeded my expectations after being a bit dissapointed with the previos title. The game play is tense and quite exiting at times. The storyline is a little on the weak side but the gameplay makes up for this.
The weapons on offer are great you will never get board with the choice on offer throught the game.
I was most impressed with the graphics the game has,I expected them to be better than the first but not this good, they are sharp and detailed and are a match for any other tiltles on offer from the playstation 3.
The online play is good but I feel it will always be second best to some similar titles (cod4 etc).It doesnt give you the same online communication as some others do and somtimes you dont fell entierly connected with whats going on.
To sum it up I would give the game a solid 8/10 and reccomend it!
