      Playable But Lacking Something

I have to say this game wasn't what I expected. It is set in the Lord of the Rings world but I didn't think it was a particular new game. The concept is very much the same as previous games because you play a character fighting in a war; of course, there are still orcs to kill and all sorts of creatures to battle but it doesn't feel exactly new which is a shame because I am a big fan of Lord of the Rings.

Though, I haven't completed the entire game yet but from what I have seen so far, its a fair game. I can't say its perfect but I can't say its bad either.

First of all, the graphics of the game are good, however, when there is writing on screen, I find it impossible to read unless I'm sitting a foot away from the television. Maybe, its just my eyes! Secondly, the story line is OK as well, though as I've said, I haven't ventured too far into the game yet. It can seem repetitive for gamer's who have already played the previous games.

I thought the game was a little tiresome after an hour because all it seemed to be doing is killing whatever creature comes your way. Usually I love Lord of The Rings games but this one hasn't been a hit for me. The battles are good and there are a few extra characters which is always refreshing but overall, it has been so far a fair game.

      It's alright

Welcome to my review of the latest Lord of the rings game, it has been developed by Snowblind Studios. The game focuses on a major sidequest based in the Lord of the Rings universe.

      Pros and Cons

      Graphics are not bad
      Compact has it's rewarding moments
      Long storyline

Not the original actors used for the voice acting
      Game play gets boring quickly

      My opinion

I really have to say that when I first heard about this game, I was really looking forward to playing it. I had enjoyed playing the previous games in the lord of the rings series that although were adventure games not rpgs and they were developed by different companies other than Snowblind Stuidos I thought that maybe they would follow the same direction. I was wrong this game goes in a entirely different direction, what we are left with is a somewhat average game.

I would not say this is a bad game, because it certainly has it's good points, if you are a fan of lord of the rings then you will properly find this game pretty good just because of the story and the fact that you get to meet many of the charter's that are in the films and books the voices are not in the same as in the films but the impersonations are aright and they can work to some extent.

On the other hand the game has it's bad points, the graphics are average and you can just see this game being an run of the mill hack and slash rpg that grows tiring if you are not a fan of the lord of the rings series.

      Game play

I really got to say that the game play is not very good, it's not on par with the more popular rpgs. All that you find yourself doing is running about bashing buttons, the game is such a hack and slash game and the only rewarding part of it is sometimes in battles you get options for critical hits and there is a amazing griffin that comes to help you in battles using the griffin to take out bad guys is fun but the fact that overall the battling is not rewarding does let it down overall.

The towns and cities in the game are well designed and feel unique in different ways which is good however even the main city in the game is pretty much deserted apart from a few shop owners but there is no hustle and bustle that you would expect. The shops owners will be happy to buy items off you that you find when you are out adventuring and you can spend your gold that you earn in different ways.

The main storyline is average, it follows a small group of people that are set out at the same time as the beginning of the first lord of the rings time frame and your job is to go out on quests and help fight the war in the north.

The storyline has a good length and lots of quests but if you grow bored of the constant hacking and slashing then you might not even finish the storyline.

I feel that if you are a fan of the series then you will properly like this game alot so if the developer went out with the intention of making a game that the fans will enjoy then they made the right game. However I'm not really a fan and when I saw this game I thought that it looked pretty dark and gory and I don't feel like this game was very good so I don't recommend it.
